funlovincriminal 134
Wee yacht moored off the beach, mainsheet has come adrift and the boom is thrashing about in this Easterly rubbish. It would be a grim row out at the moment but someone may know the owner
khayyam 61
Yuck. I'd always imagined those moorings were really only tenable in the summer. By which of course I mean real summers, not the last one!
Dodge Taxi 0
Yep have kept a watchful eye on my boats there for many years.
khayyam 61
I'm sure I remember someone telling me about a boat that came off a mooring there in an E/NE blow and ended up what seemed like halfway up the cliff when the tide went out.
ex Elly 161
There was a ferro motor-sailer that came off about 2 years ago, ended up on the cliffs to the south. If salvaged within a week or so it could have been saved. But this was during Covid lockdowns, no-one was allowed, and so it stayed there for months until destroyed by nor-easterly blows. Last year the Torbay Sailing Club patrol boat ended up against the sea-wall. Quick thinking club members with tyres and buoys prevented it being bashed, and within a day it was saved and back out on the mooring.
waikiore 346
During the 10-7 2007 storm all the moored yachts blew ashore there, and some across the road! Of course half the North Shore was without power too, I jolly well had trouble getting a Milford restaurant to serve me!
Scarlett58 0
It's hard to determine the owner of the moored boat without more context. It could belong to a local resident, a tourist, or a nearby marina. If you have specific information or a reason to find out, it might be worth asking around the area or checking with the harbor master for more details.
