Alternatively,  can anyone here answer this?

Can I replace an 80lb manson plough with a 27.2kg (60lb) manson supreme and expect similar performance?

Based on my last 10 years experience of never dragging I would say so. Manson is self righting and sets quicker and deeper.

A few sizes down from you, but we replaced a 20kg plough with a 15kg supreme and experienced a HUGE improvement in security and easier setting.

last 2 vessels had ploughs and never trusted them . Had more than enough chain.,I seem to find that can/bottle etc never dug in even added more chain.The only time it set was in Man o war only to find next morning we had hooked the cable to pakatoa,managed to retrive it. I was always worried the plough was a little undersized,  but according to some chart somewhere my chain was a tiny bit heavy. Only times I have dragged was when the idiot skipper miscalculated the tide range.

Anyway I have bid on this supreme  (trademe). Looking forward to taking 20lbs off the bow.
