Ben loses the plot

Can't find reference elsewhere though this would fit on a number of forums from Small talk to AC but check this out. He has now been thrown out for races 9 and 10 on a new one to me.... DGM! Disqualification for Gross Misconduct.

Photos and article on front page of SA and in this day and age someone somewhere will have video.

I'm off for the popcorn and beers.

If he was a football player it would assaulting some girl in a bar. Time to go cruising.

Disagree. Sure he got pissed off, but it was due to something directly affecting him, and not just because he's a big-headed sports prat.

It is Ben though. He has been known to blow his top once and a while, especially if hes loosing to people who he thinks he shouldnt be.

He got the first DGM over the altercation with the media boat. The second was ignoring a black flag and continuing in the race. Ignoring a black flag means that he is interfering with the other competitors every time he meets one. That DGM is surely justified.

Judges comments please.

Bet he wouldn't have blown his stack is he had ridden the wake (which appears to be what the other guy did). Both parties seem to be in the wrong with the RIB driver pissing him off. Doesn't mean he can drop his bundle and behave like that. Sure go up along side and mouth off. Lots of AC skippers have down that. Boarding the boat over steps the boundaries by a very large leap. He has effectively screwed up his regatta. Have read one report the he still intends to "compete" in the medal race. That surely would get him into even more trouble. Let him cool down and hopefully he may have learnt from it.

Many blogs are likening him to Paul Elvstrom. The results on the water may make them similar but the men are about as diametrically opposed as possible. Still pissed that YNZ removed Paul's quote "That you haven't won the race until you have won the respect of your competitors" from the front of the rule book. Probably one of the most profound statements ever made about sports.
