  1. Tuning in! Having talked with locals on the island I think it's probably more about making life a bit easier for people who live on Aotea Great Barrier who have been dealing with the restrictions for a long time... it's so they can go out and drop a line and get a feed. The situation is a little bit different in other places. Exotic caulerpa is pretty nasty. I'm sure you'll all do the right thing.

  2. There is no logic. There is no logic to any of it. It's just rules for rules sake. To look like something is being done, when it isn't. It is just how our country deals with stuff. Stuff and nonsense.

  3. CarpeDiem is 100% correct. It is not the courts but the government (by way of legislation) that determine which standards and which version of that standard must be complied with. There are hundreds of NZ standards covering all sorts of areas available. Most of those are simply best practice (or perhaps not) but only the standards and the specific version of that standard cited in relevant legislation can be enforced by the courts. As in the example above re marinas there is nothing stopping any organization requiring people to comply with any standard in order to use their pr
