  1. Stays in a marina and would probably stay attached full time so I guess either will be the option
  2. Haha and I would like to sail again this decade !
  3. Would a 2 or 4 stroke be the recommended option ?
  4. Thanks for the comment Zozza. I think the reality is that this is the way I will be heading unless I strike things really lucky and manage to get hold of something second hand that is like for like. Then there is the worry of potentially buying another problem. Charging batteries is not really a concern as I am in a marina with shore power, and even when I go away for a few days to the sounds my power needs are really low with really only a few LED lights so likely that I would not even need to hook a 10hp outboard to the boats battery system and could ditch the starting batte
  5. Looking for something that I can use to replace the now expired Bukh on my Raven 26. OK with having to do work on what ever it is. I guess ideally a Bukh 10HP for ease of changeover, so if you have anything gathering dust, that you are keen to move on, it would be great to hear from you. Cheers Jeff
  6. Cheers thanks for that. Initial diagnosis is that it is a lot deeper than that with (probable) knackered block and (very likely) cracked head , so it seems I may also have a bunch of Auxillary Systems as well !
  7. Hi all Just looking for some wisdom. The 10 Hp Bukh in my Raven 26 has given up the ghost after nursing it for seven or eight years. I would love to replace it with something close to like for like but obviously with the present value of a Raven, unless I can find something second hand for a reasonable price, options are fairly limited as I don't want to be sinking 10 k into a new motor. Second hand small diesels seem to be as rare as rocking horse poop. I guess the other option is an outboard? Has anyone done anything similar to a similar sized yacht? Certainly not th
  8. If you post an add looking for crew, I would have thought it is common courtesy to post a response to anyone who has responded?? Surely it is not hard to say position filled or trip not going ahead ?
  9. Hi Paul Depending on timing I am potentially available. Have one trip to Fiji on under my belt and most recently Gisbourne to Wellington. Also numerous Cook Strait crossings. Cheers Jeff
  10. Hi Bevan Depending on timing, very interested. I am a 56 year old Wellington based owner of a Raven 26. Have completed numerous Cook Strait crossings, one trip to Fiji and most recently sailed as Crew on another Raven from Gisborne to Wellington. cheers Jeff
  11. I was in pretty much your position and went the Raven 26 route. Roomier than many larger boats, easy to sail. It was big enough for me and my two teenage kids for 5 days in the sounds without too many problems. Copes well with some pretty gnarly Wellington Weather
  12. Contributor here, Grant McN won the 2020 Wellington 24 Hour Race on Handicap (obviously) on his Raven 26 Footprints. We had the fleet well covered, as I came dead last on my Raven 26 in the same race. There are a dozen Ravens still around Wellington / Top of the South, most just cruising about but a couple of them still being raced quite hard and successfully, Setimo out of Waikawa and Tracer from Port Nick. Until recently , there were 4 of them on my Pier at Seaview
  13. An awesome trip thanks David and Damo. Still getting round to putting that video together... hopefully over christmas. Had an absolute blast just wish that i could have spent more time in Fiji than the 45 minutes that I oficially was !
