  1. You dont have a gopro? I guess it depends on who you get on the day but Mr cranky may want to be a PITA
  2. https://www.mpi.govt.nz/importing/border-clearance/vessels/arrival-process-steps/biofouling/yachts-and-recreational-vessels/ Have you had a look here? Sounds like some video of the in water cleaning would be the best bit. Focus on the hidey holes they point out and receipt or ship log entry of when the last AF was done along with what type etc etc

    Welding cable

Cabac hands down. At my last workplace putting telecommunication towers up all the power kit was done in Cabac crimps and crimping tools along with thin walled adhesive lined heat shrink. Had 1 or 2 fail over a decade due to installation issues All the runs on Catknapp done in 25mm2 and 50mm2 were done with the Cabac K8 crimper, copper bell mouth crimps and XDW adhesive heatshrink. 2 years in and no issues, I tested the main battery cable a few months back and no change in resistance even under 50a load compared to my install notes
  4. I have Bluetooth module on our BMV712 and it's awesome, Range isn't that great but it's enough
  5. Straight from the horses mouth written by NZ Consumer \ https://www.trademe.co.nz/Partners/Content.aspx?id=11 "What if I change my mind? In placing a bid you are making an offer. If the seller accepts, you are in a legally binding contract, and unless the product is faulty, stolen, or has a security registered against it, you will be obliged to complete the purchase. Likewise, if you are the seller you can't just change your mind after accepting an offer on an item you had for sale. As with any contractual situation, go into it with your eyes open. Read the terms and conditions,
  6. Na not that one, Looks like they are calling it Occupied Bandwidth which seems to be fixed.
  7. Will be interesting to see what this looks like come Thursday morning, Might have to pull the canopy down!
  8. A lot of the newer kit is 12.5khz out of the box for bandwidth but running 25khz spacing. GX2150 out of the box on the SA is 12.5khz output channel width
  9. RSM inspectors only come out for complaints from license holders, Unless you're pranking the police bands it's nothing to worry about. RSM just don't have the resources to go running down all of these radios
  10. The channel bandwidth can be set but from memory it's 25khz but Marine is 12.5khz so may pay to check so you don't bleed over and you're heard better. You can us a programming cable and software called CHIRP to fix in channels and disable freq input, May it more like a normal Marine VHF handset that way On the shipping side, If i've had to send things urgently and want to bypass customs BS I ship with Fedex, They have a GST person who you just call and they take CC over the phone. Never had an item sit in Custom's more than 1 day with them even with $1k+ GST. You pay a premium of course ov
  11. lol just goes to show customs search on mail is liking trying to piss into a hurricane and not get any on yourself

    GPS to fail

Bingo Markm! https://www.orolia.com/resources/blog/lisa-perdue/2018/gps-2019-week-rollover-what-you-need-know. April 6 2019 will cause a few issues on very old kit
  13. If it's not labelled radio equipment on its customs declaration it's not caught, The new rules only catch the honest guys. The Baofengs are just too cheap and handy to have plenty of them flowing in still.
  14. If they catch it, The baofengs aren't on trademe as much but they are still being imported by the like's of wish.com and aliexpress. General feeling is without a massive boost in the customs force at Auckland Mail Center it wont impact anything other than the odd unlucky person
  15. Where'ed that 48% number come from KN? NZTA puts motorcyclist either at fault or the primary party to blame at 55% and only 36% where the motorcyclist wasn't to blame for 2012-2016. I also wonder what happened around 2005, Since then 40 years and over are the single largest group being killed https://www.transport.govt.nz/assets/Uploads/Research/Documents/68735c3ffc/Motorcycles-2017.pdf
  16. What were the details you had an issue with? I remember filling in a lot about things like boat colours topside and hull, Details about the engine type and size etc etc
  17. Did away with matches ages ago, nice little spark lighter works well for gas!
  18. Chuck your name in here: https://www.rsm.govt.nz/smart-web/smart/page/-smart/domain/licence/SearchCertificateAndIdentifierPage.wdk?fromHome=Yes Under Licensee chuck in lastname, firstname should give you a list of callsigns under your name
  19. An AIS RX only system won't need one nor will it ask for one, As for the MMSI it's for the boat not the device so use same MMSI on all devices on the boat. RSM never did get back me about handheld MMSI's for tenders with DSC radios
  20. I see better respect for the rules and other boats from Jetski's coming up to the town basin than I do any power boat coming up there. Jet Ski's are slow and minimize their wake, Multiple fizz's and tinnies blast up and down generating a decent wake at all hours. Someone blasts past at 11pm every few weeks
  21. Why not? It cant remain the wild west forever which it effectively is unless the stars align and the HM boat happens to be out when you see something. I can't think of anywhere or anything else where you can take a 100-1500kg object with 70-90-115-250hp engine on it and go 50kph in a public area without some form of displayed rego or license. Come park up in Whangarei for a month, See how many people ignore colreg's around sailboats because they are in a hurry to get to the pub at Parua or skimming by divers in 3-5m depth or fishing inside the Reotahi marine reserve. All done in untraceabl
  22. For a multi story we've done Catknapp about 3 years ago now in unsheathed dynice dux sourced from Hampijan in Nelson for around $11/m for 9mm stuff. We spec'ed for creep rather than break load as the boat would have had 3mm! We got some rather nice 316 closed eye thimbles from a crowd in the AU which worked well for a Wharram. Spliced ends ourselves and did 1 extra which we got tested, 9mm is meant to be a tad under 9t break, With our eyes we tested brake at 8.3t. 3 years on and it's held up very well. If tension and creep are a concern for your rig tho I'd still stick with SS unless y
  23. Licensing is all about enforcement, If the carrot doesn't work then you need a stick. On roads the stick comes in the form of fixed camera's and around 1000 dedicated staff patrolling roads. Even accounting for number of boats vs number of cars you still don't have the resources to enforce even with webcam's and drones. Without a drastic increase in enforcement resources licensing would just be a revenue grab, Sure you may get a lot of people through the day skipper course but I've seen too many people with the "It won't happen to me, I'm a good driver" curse. If you enforced the current r
  24. I think it would be a decent intermediate step to ask for some form of registration details be visible on all non-human powered watercraft, I think our public roads would be a lot more dangerous if all you could report to police was make/model. I see plenty of fizz boats at Urquhart's at planing speed go right next to dive flags. Myself nor the dive boat can complain unless we go chase them down, Thats just one example where I think that at least visible registration details would help matters
