I have a GlobalSat usb gps on a MacBook, the gps utility program can see the gps but opencpn does not seem to see it even though I have setup a connection
Serial /dev/cu.usbserial 4800
opencpn see's the serialusb option there just nothting inside the app... any ideas from those using macs?
Also is there an AIS TCP feed address for NZ shipping I could link to?
this is cool but would like the data inside opencpn

you posted as I edited, but great idea using the sanding dust like that.... will make the epoxy easier to handle as its as runny as runny sh*t otherwise
My teak wheel has a few slight splits , nothing too serious so worth filling. I am going to sand it and use uroxsys, but first what to fill the gaps with?
tech sheet for Uroxsys says below , would any marine epoxy do ?
stove top coffee expresso maker ++++
bean bags
25L containers for getting fresh water to boat (take one each trip to shore if there is water there)
chartplotter at helm, usefullness depends on where you are
some way to climb decent distance up mast (steps etc) so you can send someone up to guide through coral
laptop - other crusiers will swap usb sticks of charts/book pdfs etc
obvious spares
I used white to paint inside of RnB, its ok but there isnt much pigment so you need several layers to cover any darker marks under it. sets hard. you WILL NEED full face resp as fumes are intense.
I liked it but would try something with more pigmentation next time..... if there is a high pigment white durable interior marine paint?
I am looking for cheap to play, have 3 gps's on boat plus ipad and iphone...... lots of backup already. just looks a cool toy to play with the free nz chart pack still looks a little rough anything you can buy thats finer detail , i think my main chartplotter uses navonics charts its a lorance
whats the cheapest way to add a GPS signal to my macbook pro so CPN is like a backup chart plotter, have this via gps on iphone.ipad but would be interested to play with this on the macbook
