    New prop

changed oil+filter and fuel filter, had injectors looked at,no problem there, motor maybe getting tired and noticed a club member with same problem has taken kiwi prop off and gone to 2 blade folding, but we will just have to put up with what we have for the time being.motor sounds better and appears at this stage to be pushing 6.5,little less throttle but needs a scrub again.
  2. some squat at low speeds and make a wash like a old displacement at 9knt,when these fizzys/ribs etc do 15+ no wake, but then comes in play no wash zones but must travel no faster than 5knt.so what is one to do??
  3. Yes well what can I say about HM boat in panmure today, might of been doing 5knt but the wake, thanks now i have oil to clean up.
  4. 29cm is no good to me but fine for comms we need 30cm and only can take 7 snapps in sna1
  5. My sails are on the plane, just split my old no2,hopefully Monday/tuesday
  6. If anyone has time here is 350 pages of the plan and most is not in plain English http://www.seachange.org.nz/PageFiles/1166/5086_SCTTTP_Marine%20Spatial%20Plan_WR.pdf
  7. just a sample, the pink areas will/maybe the reserves and could include up to 1 mile from anyshore line that Doc have control of. In effect there could be no fishing from rangitoto lighthouse across to Takapuna or 1 mile out to sea around rangi/motutapu motuihe browns island. The Mokihinui maybe covered western side of coville tiritiri matangi. Can be seen as an inconvenience to recc fishers but may install abundance once commercial seiners/trawlers are out,on the other hand we may see more longliners as trawlers convert over.catch22? It would nice to think that in 10/15yrs we could have more
  8. KAWAU BOATING CLUBNORTHCOTE PO $20.54 No your right I paid $2.054 per lt 10 lts is all I got in my can, from my bank statement and is was the only thing purchased on my card, shower was paid cash as %20 was all I had for 4 showers(4 of us) I was a member back in the "Shoemakers"day as we were up there all the time nowadays prefer bottom end/coromandel as not so many crazy gin palaces charging around.
  9. Attended a meeting last night on how "Seachange"will/wont work and it will not go ahead for a simple reason.MPI want to double exports by 2025 when trawling is suppose to exit the gulf. The Group who came up with the plan are commercial fisherman or have commercial interest.Farmers with big Fonteera shares.Yes there will be no take zones which may or may not effect recreational fishing.Areas will be closed down to fishing but that could be a small price to pay when we are talking about abundance for all.Ahu Moana is the sticking point for most recreational including myself until it was explai
  10. Was at club last week and Did not join as we very really go up to kawau. But needed to buy 10lt diesel members rate was $1.49 and non members $2.49 ripped off I feel, water was $1 per minute non member. But did not feel begrudged the $5 for a nice hot shower after day 5
  11. Ha Ha "Scottie" reminds of the 1970s at mansion house bay.loaned my "P" out to a boy named Shroder,?this kid in a dinghy kept buzzing him,now Schroder not being the shy type whipped the tiller out and proceeded to destroy the outboard cover.end of problem
  12. That's what I have found so I will stick to my chart and gps
  13. Your co ordinates have you going in to army bay?1.06 miles out, google maps.is that correct,as I have never found google maps reliable at sea. if it is right i will give it another try instead of playing with paper charts and reading co ords off gps
  14. Ha Ha vessels name still there on page 2 "rangi" post Ha Ha
  15. Had a situation off Bean Rock late last year.We were on port on the wind, heading up the harbour.A group of seriously big yachts racing were coming down reaching with kites on port (windward keeps clear)as not to impede the fleet we went head to wind before we crossed the fleet and we got acknowledge by most.Courtesy costs nothing So in Kevin's case perhaps the 50 footer should/could of gone a little bit further to leeward but then we do not know what was to leeward of 50 footer.
  16. Passed 3m to leeward??I personally would feel a bit close in a non race situation, the other vessel is not here to defend themselves, but whose to say there was plenty of room but you came down on him?

    New prop

As we,instead of our normal 5knts, motored home today, the old motor coughed and spluttered, next minute we were doing 6.5knt so buggered if i know.3/4 throttle may of been something in the air filter?? .
  18. We anchor normally off the caretakers place at wanganui island(small boat passage) good holding in sw,we go across pasage and ring taxi if weather not good, otherwise motor dinghy across and yep hm is a twat.name on dinghy and l/j

    New prop

both designs become obsolete in a very short time as 1/4 tonners, had a 25(tachyon)with 10hp bukh shaft 2 bladed imo the 25 has more room but the peterson sails a bit better.for the price they go for.both make good cruising family safe boats i got it wrong it the salthouse 19.6 waterline and cav 21 waterline. If I wanted a vessel to motor around in i would of brought a launch

    New prop

"Muzza" the cav 26 is a doug peterson designer, bum is clean so is prop.went out for a motor today and she pushed well in 25+ flat water though she does hobby horse but nothing i can do about that as she is 19ft waterline so there lies the problem

    New prop

cav 26 3 blade kiwi feathering and no I would not like a o/b hanging off the stern because when hobby horsing prop would pop out of water . to get o/b lower enough, long shaft, head would not high enough above water for my liking, what would be worst,a o/b under water or doing 0.5 with inboard??

    New prop

we have kiwi prop and last monday off park pt,incoming tide sw 25+ at times 16hp yanmar 3/4 throttle at times 0.5kt forward, normally in flat water would of got 5.2 on clean bum.So is it the prop not biting in a sea way? first time in a sea way for me in this yacht.
  24. going down to panmure to check soon,no phone call so all must be good, looks like we might get away monday morning to Kawau, then what?
