  1. Funny, I was sold on Young 1034s before I bought the Marshall. Just couldn't find one at the right price!! Lovely boats.
  2. Thanks Scott. I was pretty happy with it. I just hope it goes the distance in the sunlight as I was in a rush and didn't clear coat it.

    Wind gear

The Marshall is all Raymarine and I have had very little trouble. Autopilot works OK for an older unit, log, windspeed, interfaces all good. Wind direction is out, and I had one issue with a software fault on an E7 plotter which showed true degrees instead of magnetic for Bearings, even tough it displayed magnetic. This was fixed with a software update. Connecting them altogether was easy and pretty painless compared to the nightmare I had with the isatphone pro trying to get data out of it....

    Wind gear

Hi Matt. I'll give you a call when I'm home. I think the ST60 is seatalk, but I can use a converter... I am looking at going to Evolution on the autopilot as well which is definately seatalk ng.
  5. OK, so it was a few weekends ago, but keeping with the Carbon theme. The Marshall's hydraulics sh*t themselves a few weeks back. And after having to bend the ugly alloy plate to get the hydraulic pump out, I thought "There must be a better way".. Before, ugly 30 yr old alloy Used it as a template on some laid up carbon (First try at this) Finished! Not sure how long it will last as I didn't have time to clear coat it, but it's not in the sun too much, so cross fingers!!
  6. Thanks for that! Great site. I'll use some of that wankery in my next carbon project..

    Wind gear

IT, I will certainly be coming to see you in the near future as I need to get internet from my inmarsat phone to my PC, and have totally failed to date. In the last RNI, where you went was much more important than boatspeed, and having predictwind updates, as well as updates on where the rest of the fleet have gone is critical. We lost the last leg big time because of this, but did real well in legs 2 and 3 by heading where predictwind told us to go.. I'm also keen on getting AIS and a wireless network, so I'm sure I can keep you busy!! B&G sounds great but the rest of the system is Rayma

    Wind gear

The Marshall's wind gear needs an upgrade. Despite lots of attempts at calibration, close hauled direction is still a long way out from tack to tack. I suspect that it is the wand not being high enough, but could also be a chance to put on some new stuff. I am looking at the Raymarine wireless (Old tactik stuff). Has anyone had any experience with these? Any good? How hard to hook into the other wired Raymarine stuff? Any feedback appreciated.
  9. Hahaha. Fair enough. I am also hanging out for payday...
  10. Yes Booboo has it right. Furthest aft are runners. Coming forward is Mainsheet. Then Kite sheet/guy. The two outer cabin top Lewmars are Jib sheets, or kite/ genny sheet. Like Phil says, once you have gone electric for halyard/reef/cunningham/ last few metres on the kite when it has already filled, you never go back, especially two handed. That winch is a godsend.. The small cabin top self tailer is good for halyards when the clutches slip... It's not a bad set up. Two handed, the helm can trim the main, especially after Gavin McPherson (He knows some stuff that man) repositioned the s
  11. Used off here by idiots and lasted well Wheels. If divers can't breakl them they have got to be good..
  12. Ditto! Where do you get carbon piano hinges, or did you just paint it black??
  13. Hey Wheels. I hear you on hole-saws. Here offshore we use Sutton TCT-Pro holesaws. I had never used them before I joined this dive ship but I am well impressed. We mostly use 316 stainless and we have our fair share of idiots trying to cut stainless at high speed.... These things last way longer than anything else I have used and very rarely shatter. They have carbide (or similar) teeth and are sharpenable. I'm sure they're expensive, but if I was going to buy a new holesaw, I would get one of these. Awesome. The one pictured is 30mm.
  14. What's happened to all the Div 1 entries??
  15. That only encourages them from all I have seen..
  16. Phil we are not even in the same ballpark as Booboo...
  17. Excellent!! What does Booboo draw? Mind you, I'm not sure I want to be alongside....
  18. Wow! I can't believe this! I was only talking to Nick on Thursday last week about doing some work on the Marshall. He was a big man. It must have been some impact to kill him. Very sad. I hope they recover the boat and his body..
  19. Perfection wasn't cheap!!
  20. International Perfection plus. I asked about using 207 West system hardener which is UV resistant but they reckoned 2 pot polyurethane was better..
  21. No idea Paul. Just the answer I got from the guys at Adhesive technologies. Who wants white anyway???? Bling rules!!
  22. 2 pot polyurethane according to Adhesive Technologies, so that's what they are getting!! Before and after shots..
