Hola sounds and looks a bit too much like Bola for my liking.

I hope not, Bola kind of had two goes at us - it came down one the west coast a bit then bounced up a bit and then came down the east coast.  I was hiding at Bon Accord watching trees get blown out of the harbour... definitely don't want that again. Although the HUGE waves we got sailing home from Kawau were a bit of fun.

I was at bon accord too. We were in a 22ft variant and came back pregnant. Moral of the story: get a boat with standing headroom.

Absolutely nothing like Bola. This one has far too much cold air sucking into it and that cool air will be cooling down the Ocean surface temp around us. It'll fall apart once it gets close to us. Don't get me wrong, we will still get Rain, especially the Far north and some wind, but nothing like Bola. Not even like Gita. In fact, possibly not even as bad as you guys have had today by the looks of the news.

I meant literally as in Hola starts with H instead of B.

Your a braver man than me making predictions like that Wheels.

But hopefully BP is right and it just says a wee cheery "hello" on its way past :)

The word Hola which is used by all Spanish people to greet each other came from the Arab word Allah. Hola comes from the Arabic and it means Peace be upon (with) God. This has evolved into Peace be with you, which is a very romantic and polite way of saying Hello.

Doesn't sound very scary.

I'm hoping Wheel's prediction is right, because Metvu has it scoring a direct hit on Northland on Monday... basically the eye passing over my place.

Well I could well be wrong. The predictions for Monday are starting to look rather concerning.

Well thankfully, it looks like it is going to fizzle out pretty quickly tomorrow. There will still be some wind and rain, but nothing much out of the ordinary. The lower half or the North and all the South Island will completely miss out.
