waikiore 294
Sail and oar good! Alaska mmm maybe a bit nippy, seriously though we are due for one of these 'raids' in NZ. We have the Welsford boats and a few Oughtreds here, how about Auckland--Waiheke--Thames---Coromandel??
Clipper 292
it does sound good - alaska is cool. As does a NZ version. I'd need to find a boat though. Squid talked about one a year or 2 back, had 3 harbours as I recall, Manukau, Waitemata, Kaipara?
Black Panther 1,339
Yep, couldn't get enough interest. But there was one on the Hokianga that year, camped out overnight and then hit the pub with some sailing thrown in. I think the concept is great and would love to see something happen in NZ. cam 0
Yes "A bit nippy" to put it blimin mildly waikiore:) I lived in the starting point of Port Townsend for some time back in the 80s. A beaut spot actually. The old Everglades challenge looked an interesting race of this type, in a slightly more sane climate. A good write up here http://www.bandbyachtdesigns.com/evergl ... llenge.htm
