ratings 0
Looks like a very good competitive fleet of 11 yachts (the max allowed) Racing under IRC and PHRF
ratings 0
just read the press release on sail-world today fleet down to 8 could do with 3 more starters by the sounds of it pity it was not run totally under IRC the fairest handicap going around at the moment

Clipper 343
pity it was not run totally under IRC the fairest handicap going around at the moment Pity it isn't being raced one design, even better....
Ed 143
It's a local yacht race with local boats, so a local handicapping system is appropriate. The cost and hassle of IRC isn,t required, espically so for endorsed.
Clipper 343
what a sensible comment ed. I thought we were just taking turns to say dumb sh*t....
Ed 143
I'm still trying to think of a one design class in nz with 11 effectively identical boats that could get cat2..... S34 maybe? Not particularly identical these days Y88 - long way to gissy in one of those Err....
Clipper 343
I wasn't being serious
ratings 0
All handicaps have a cost every year just part of racing But At least the IRC yachts are weighed , hull measurements taken and sail's measured and signed off PHRF is just a guessing game to a point think the problem with IRC in Nz is boat owners can't get thee head around it and we don't have the yachts going to Australia or other countries to race like the years gone by so there is no real need to get IRC measured
ratings 0
very interesting that 4 out of the seven yachts have IRC handicaps does that say something about the IRC rating ?
Battleship 100
Yes it says unless you are sailing a Euro boat forget it.

Battleship 100
Looks like Anarchy is just off TeKaha, hopefully the others will come back into range shortly. Must have been a bit of slow going last night, nice night to be out there though.

B00B00 310
Fantastic race, downwind the whole way there and the whole way back! We got a new speed record for the sun fast of 21.5kts just after East Cape. Epic run. Managed to get a 2nd on IRC which I'm stoked with. Really happy with the boat in our first long race. Now 5nm out from the Mercury Islands with poled out jib doing 9-12kts. Good times.
