B00B00 310
Yup it is really sad. I remember when the boat was brand new, I was very young at the time but I thought it was the coolest boat ever

grant 40
Is that a short lifetime??? Seems so to me... but I have no real reference. Arahura was built just before a significant change in the international rules. After the change she was technically too tall for her beam and operated under an exception for much of her life. The removal of a big chunk of her passenger areas a number of years ago was necessary when she became too old for MNZ to continue to issue the exemption. I believe the next survey was going to require significant work to comply and was considered to much work for the age and and value of the ship. Arahura was the last ship designed and built specifically for the run and I think a ship spending her entire working life on one run is something that is becoming increasingly uncommon.
