bene_sails 0
Hi there. Looking to locate the yacht strider. Built in nelson and extensively cruised. Last time I heard of her she was in the bay of islands having returned from the pacific islands. Any information as to her whereabouts would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Benny. Steve Pope 243
There is a Strider on the piles at Kissing Point Whangarei, home port Nelson.
wheels 543
I was wracking my Brain thinking the name seemed really familiar. Then suddenly remembered. Isn't Ashly's boat called Stryder/Strider ? Is she still working on it? I haven't seen or heard from Her in ages. I don't know where it originated from nor the actual spelling if it was Stryder or Strider. waikiore 400
Was hers, but she quickly sold it after trying to shift Brown Island, the new owner patched her up and was cruising in a week, she is working on a whiting I believe
MarkMT 68
Some info on that Strider here: https://www.facebook.com/Guate.The.Solo.Challenge/info/?entry_point=about_section_header&tab=page_info A 28' DD kauri Sandy Jones design, so presumably not the 50' steel one the OP was after. Black Panther 1,592
Pretty sure I saw the little Strider on the Grid at Weiti last week.
Steve Pope 243
The one in Whangarei is steel, has a very cumbersome looking appendage well out over the stern.
bene_sails 0
Cheers guys, not the 28' one im looking for. Whangarei sounds more promising... will have to do a bit more digging. the strider im looking for was built by my father around 1975-80 and my parents did a 6 year circumnavigation before me.
