erice 732
a catamaran has capsized in Macandrew Bay. "Hurricane force winds" with gusts up to 160km/h are slamming the region with the Port Hills getting the full brunt of it. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11704973
Deep Purple 512
A moored Catamaran opposite the beach at Macandrew Bay, Dunedin capsized in the wind
BMW56 12
Pretty wild out tonight. Hope the mooring holds and nothing too badly damaged. One thing's for sure - I'm glad I'm not on board.
ScottiE 174
you can see this boat on google maps moored off a bridle. Anyone wanna hazard how this capsized?
ex TL systems 63
looks like it has some sort of bipod rig , may be a lot of windage up high that blew it over?,could have been sailing around pretty wildly on the mooring, or/and the wind got under the bridgedeck,160 k is a lot of wind, if you were on the boat you might consider flooding the hulls with a foot or so of water to hold it down. Heavy and low would be safer than light and high. .
waikiore 400
Not the first cat to sail itself over on a mooring, we had one start coming across the yard at Okahu Bay hardstand one year and another flip off its drums.
erice 732
less than a sec on the 6pm news tonight but that cat's got no more lives
