southernman 73 Posted September 18, 2016 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Hi team, seems there are no 13.5m berths in Westhaven available, does anyone have one to rent from next week until April? If not i'm contemplating either Bayswater or Pine Harbour, both have berths, which is best? Interested in Pros/Cons at each location for getting boat ready for going offshore next year. Jon 360 Posted September 18, 2016 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Had a yacht in Pine harbour for 14 years but now in Westhaven Bayswater is easy to get to from the shore or downtown Has a really bad rep for there being a lot of wash through the marina, to the point of damage to boats and marina, it was designed to have a rock breakwater but only got a pile one. Pine Harbour is a very friendly marina that's nice and sheltered, great for cruising as your halfway to the best close anchorages in the Hauraki gulf Down sides is only about 2m water at low tide and hard to get tradesman out of Auckland to do work, but the local trades are good but limit your choices. I've seen the boats in the southern / outer marinas come close to hooking rigs and the pontoons undulating and torquing enough to be scary. And that was a screaming Souwesterly. raz88 96 Posted September 19, 2016 Share Posted September 19, 2016 The piles at westhaven are good for the price, bit more jobbly than the actual marina berths but fine for a month. The only catch is they don't like you sleeping aboard out there so if you're planning on staying aboard for the month it's probably no good for you. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
