bazzathemammoth 37
Hey guys Took the boat out today and discovered that the fridge isnt working. Im pretty sure there is a hole in the lines somewhere as the compressor is still drawing amps. Any recommendations for a marine fridgey in tauranga?

mattm 98
So it’s a 12v fridge? They don’t often leak unless physically danaged. Is it an off the shelf box, or a compressor and cold plate installed in a box that’s part of the boat?
Addem 95
Compressor and cold plate.
Addem 95
We tend to have a few bottles and cans rolling around during races. Would that damage the plate?
Island Time 1,239
Can, if it’s the thin plate ( thin white plate) type. Not so much if it’s a eutectic system. The (usually danfoss compressor type) 12v systems have very little refrigerant in them, a small leak and low pressure will make them fail. If the thin plate is damaged, it should be visible.... Young Entertainer 59
If it is a plate let me know as I have a spare, cruising at the moment but back mid Jan. Plate is a metre long
bazzathemammoth 37
Thanks for that. I will have a quick sus tomorrow when I'm back at the boat and see if I can find where it has failed.
