southernman 73
Guys, Small question, have noticed that this valve is leaking slowly when engine is running at higher revs. Pulled it apart and it has a little membrane in the top. Why is this leaking, it's a pain in the ass. 1- Assume this should not leak? 2- What is the fix? Replace? Any help / advice appreciated.
Fish 0
I can't view the photo there Southernman, sorry. It might be the dots in the time stamp making it look like a random file type?
marinheiro 352
sounds like the anti siphon valve on your salt water discharge and the membrane is a bit tired, which means a new membrane probably at a price inversely proportional to it's size. You could try taking it out first and soaking it in hot water to remove any salt crystal buildup
southernman 73
Sounds perfect and yes probably the answer!!! Here is the photo again. Any idea who sells spares for these?
Jon 360
Looks like it will have a small ball in it that floats up and blocks the top tube when motor is running Have you tried taking it apart, could be as simple as salt buildup but may be pitted and need replacement Take the crox nut off then inside the next one will be a system of blocking the breather when under pressure
southernman 73
Thanks looks like it's missing a ball altogether, I'm replacing it. Not worth the pain in the ass.
Jon 360
Often the easiest way
John B 106
Thats just a syphon break, I had exactly the same issue myself. I tried retrofitting the valve component but couldn't get a proper seal. In the end I replaced it with a True Design composite syphon break elbow, they're rated for some crazy heat figure despite the 'plastic' look, problem solved.
vic008 17
In Chch anyway, Trudesign said Burnsco carry the best range.
John B 106
Burnsco or General marine in AKL. Possibly a wider range at General marine, but they're next door, so you can browse.
