Black Panther 1,592
Did you know that one of the Carolinas banned govt departments from mentioning climate change and cancelled works to protect the foreshore coz there's no such thing?
chariot 243
Was in a cylone in 1991 up in Western Samoa, cyclone Val. The thing that puts the sh..ts up you is the noise. It is like a jumbo jet parked outside the window. Just when you think it cant increase in strength, it winds up a bit more. I was on land, would hate to have been at sea. One Aussie trawler in the area was lost.

Priscilla II 395
No and nor should the government shoulder the costs and compensate those who buy in known risk prone areas. I wonder if the driver in the NY Times piece is economic and it is cheaper to build in those areas that are exposed to hurricanes. Do those residents carry home insurances and if so what sort of premiums do they pay compared to other less at risk areas. 9 million new residents over 16 years given the land area concerned is not that large in growth terms. Black Panther 1,592
On grand Cayman the locals lived inland. The expat community lived on the coast. Locals thought they were mad.
