Priscilla II 343
Happy new year to all yous sea creatures. Just cleared the decks on the ranch of peoples and urgent tasks so now back into the Morby build. Strakes are going on and I had forgotten how much I do hate epoxy and patience is the secret to cutting successfully neat and matching gains in 6mm stock.

As to strength the sole and garboard will get glassed both sides and the hull strake joints will receive a light cloth backing glassed on the inside. It is one version of many puzzle joints for marine applications ,Russel Brown utilises a variation on his PT II nesting dinghy and I do not see any disadvantages. Scarfing has its place too and Vivier supplies plans that include this method however I am embracing the CNC big model kit thing wholeheartedly and it certainly makes for a very tidy workspace. I suspect the contact area in that puzzle joint would easily match that of an 8:1 scarph and possibly even exceed it.

There is also a light fibreglass cloth that straddles the puzzle joint on the inside.

Priscilla II 343
Day of miracles as the storm passed the sun shone and the Morby soaked up some rays. Plenty of post Gabrielle tasks to be done on the ranch but I couldn’t resist going on all fours to admire what I had just given birth to… one very stout girl.

Progress has been stalled until I have successfully slain the one million Willows that ring the ranch crikey they are a curse of a tree that’s for sure. I am considering adding a small amount of depth to the skeg so it carries through to the false stem for extra bottom protection. Next step is to glass the sole and garboard then fit skeg and stem then sand fill prime sand fill prime…. May well add some graphite to last coat of epoxy as the photo shows.
LBD 36
Looking absolutely beautiful! Foot or so shorter and you would need to double security to keep me out... looks to be nearly the perfect tender for me. I will be keen to learn what the final bare hull weight comes in at.

Francois does a 10/10.5 Morbic.
LBD 36
I have seen those... I looked up Morbic when you first mentioned them... I just need a few minutes with drawings, a tape measure and inspiration fluid on my fore deck. Tell you what, when I have that sorted then maybe I let you know which one you need to build next...
