Guest
Hey we are going to be down in Wellytown on the 24th to hear our daughter sing, any suggestions for inexpensive adequate accomodation within walking distance of the Town Hall.
Guest
Please define "within walking distance". Wellingtonians think nothing of walking from the Stadium to Courtney Place after a Phoenix game, for example. In Auckland, that would definitely be a taxi ride. I work on the corner of Grey & Featherston streets, and regularly walk from there to the RPNYC after work...
Guest
P.S., I am not trying to be smart of unhelpful, but one thing I noticed as a STARK difference when I moved from Auckland to Wellington just over two years ago was the massive difference in walking distance cultures. People walk everywhere down here.
Farrari 4
Yep, it's one thing you notice when walking around the city streets of Wellington on a business day. There are a lot of people dressed in their work clothes with either running or walking shoes on i.e. something practical to walk distances in. I haven't yet turned up to a business meeting where they are wearing them so I assume its the done thing to have a work pair in the office.
Rafin 2
Squid, have a look at Wotif.co.nz, be aware they are very inflexible if something changes though.
benny14 6
Cheap accomodation in Wellington is pretty hard to find... Southern Cross Apartments are pretty small but liveable, and about as cheap as you will get... http://www.sxapts.co.nz/ If you want to book online, you will get a better deal, check out wotif.com, they have all sorts of places for some reasonably cheap rates, click on them to see where they are etc... http://www.wotif.com/?country=NZ
otto 31
I often stay here as prices are ok and it's within walking distance of everything. http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-3049-ibis-wellington/index.shtml
chic014 0
www.hotelscombined.com is pretty good for comparison. Can even limit results to within a certain distance of a location and can view by map rather than a list
Guest
Thanks, looking at Wotif now. Let's say 15 mins walk as the girls will be in their finery (probably won't let me walk alongside them).
Guest
15 mins walk, cool... most of the CBD then. Ibis is good. This is worth a look too: http://www.wellingtonnz.com/accommodati ... apartments http://www.boltonhotel.co.nz/facilities-en.html is nice, but might fail on the cheap/affordable scale... There are backpackers too of course...
