Paakirikiri 0
Does anyone know where you can get large brass screws? I am replacing the brass strip on the keel of a wooden dinghy and the existing screws (too worn to reuse) look to be 14 gauge. Hardware stores seem to only stock up to 12g. Any suggestions? John B 106
If its old it should be bronze. Fosters will have them.

wheels 543
Yes Silicon Bronze is what you are after. Any Chandler should have them.
Fish 0
Chatfeilds are good for stuff like that, 9 Porana Rd and on the web, but phone them. What you're after should be fairl common, Chatfeilds do do some random net boat stuff.
Paakirikiri 0
Sorry about the typo. Apologies to all crew members, non-ferrous or otherwise. The boat did have an aluminium strip along the keel held on with brass/bronze screws but that didn't last long below waterline. The replacement strip of metal I have is brass. I guess bronze screws will be tougher than brass but will they be galvanically compatible?
Steve Pope 243
you will need to use a bronze strip as well as bronze screws. Brass de-zinkifies and will fail fairly quickly. Alluminium and brass / bronze are not compatible. A definite no no. Chatfields might be a better bet price wise.
