Auckland Regatta

MOTORBOAT

Recommended Posts

Hi Motorboat, 19 entrants so far - many more in the wings that haven't quite gotten around to submitting the paperwork. Entries close on Friday so it would be great to see the entries in ASAP, so that the team can get onto finalising divisions and the boat names can go on the website.

http://www.aucklandregatta.co.nz is the website, and details and entry forms are on there, or if you are racing tonight drop into Bucks or the Squadron.

Really looking forward to the racing and the beach party!

There are some big questions this year on who will take the 8.5 National Championship title.

Tipped boats for line are:

1. AC Star Pete Melvin in Momma Tired (ex. meltdown). No one can match him upwind currently but struggling downwind due to lack of horsepower.

2. Borderline - last years winner and current gun boat.

3. Dirty Deeds - struggling to regain the 4 (or was it 5) year crown.

4. Tigre or Stealth - both hampered by crew changes but just as fast as the top 3.

Rumors have it that teams are being checked by the New Zealand Sports Drug Agency. Word is that in a few cases they are having trouble getting a good blood sample as there is too much rum in the blood stream!

Hi there,

is there any chance of updating the entry list?

There must be more entries for the Regatta? We know of a few more boats who entered but are not on the list?

At the moment the fleet seems rather small and not very attractive to race agains - just some food for thought

I am just finding out for you, REVS, if the list is up to date.

Emily said a couple of days ago that it's the same every year - the fleet looks small at this point but the entries all come in at the last possible minute. For example, there are only three 5.9s entered at the moment, but lots more are definitely going to be there because it's their class nationals! Ditto for the multis.

It would be great if you could all help out by getting your entries in today and tomorrow, not only so they can go on the website but so that divisions and other details of planning can be finalised. The $75 late entry fee kicks in after Friday evening.

Don't want to be seen as a premature post-ulator but there may even be a separate start for a bunch of guys sailing boats that may or may not be Ross 930s

OK it's a start, if not a 'champs'.

On the premature theme, we're turning up with new kit and our teeth on the bit

Thats always the case - no one enters cause no one else has.

enter and they will come...

Yep!

All indicators are for a strong fleet, and the social side of the regatta looks great, especially the Steinlager Beach Party at Motuihe Island.

I think if you can find a way of updating the entries as they enter and pay it would make it a much more attractive race fleet - one of the E5.9 from up North entered two weeks ago, yet their name is not on the list (maybe they didn't fork up the money :? ) . RPNYC had a wicked system for their regatta, where you could enter and pay online and your name showed on the entry list straight away!

Let's hope that Aucklanders are just a tad late to enter

I will pass that on, thanks!

The boat concerned should contact the race managers if they can't see their name on the list. I am sure it is pretty much up to date, but will let you know.

Emily says the entry list should be up to date - so if you have entered but your boat name isn't on the list, definitely get in touch with her so she can sort it out.

There was a problem with the online entry system on the RNZYS website at one point, but it's fixed now.

www.aucklandregatta.co.nz has all the info.

Nope, there is still a few missing off the list.

The Squaddy have confirmed they have 2 boats, I know of, entries but neither show on the entry list as yet. So there could be more.

Okay sounds like there may be a log jam - but the boat owners or someone in the know really has to get in touch with Emily direct to let her know, so that it can be sorted out. Her details are on the homepage of the website. Too hard to do via public internet forum! Thanks for alerting us though.

75 entries in now.

Hopefully the weather holds for the Steinlager beach party. The beer will be cold and the Munt Gay Promo girls will be there so don't be late
