nz moth 0
That is what i'm talking about!! doesn't make the yacht look ugly, can sit out of the weather and with windows in it you can see what's going on!!!
Changed 10
This is the clear dodger that Viktor has built into the Daughter of the Wind.
John B 106
Who knows about UV on acrylic? Can you even use acrylic/ perspex or is there a special type. Or is it Lexan/ polycarbonate that you need to use?

Guest
try auto pilot
Guest
so why move the tiller. Not sure what your plan was but I would think the rudder should stay where it is. I know the boat from past history when it was in Kerikeri. So how is he to move the tiller other than make it longer or introduce more moving parts
Guest
A rube goldberg answer is two lines from the tiller to the hatch - make small adjustments without going outside. Probably the biggest issue he faces is what is he to do about autopilot - go with the itty bitty on deck one he's got? add a grunty under deck model? buy a wind vane? .............. Changed 10
A box full of itty bitty ones will likely be cheaper.
Changed 10
I found this shot of Daughter of the wind from behind. It shows how the hood creates a sheltered space around the companionway.
Adrianp 120
As a side note, this is a very interesting read about "Daughter of the Wind" and her designer: http://www.dibleymarine.com/resources/In-the-Press/Viktor-the-Russian.pdf
Changed 10
Amazing that such a star can park his boat at Pier 21 and get in and out of NZ without featuring in any magazine articles.
erice 732
an interesting story thanks i assume the "unconventional self-steering" ability he's talking mentions is something to do with tweaking that forward dagger/rudder?
