Battleship 100
Andrew Fagan circumnavigated NZ including the Auckland Islands a few year ago, not sure weather he stopped anywhere tho. I thought he didn't stop but can't find any info either way. http://www.3news.co.nz/Andrew-Fagan-completes-his-record-yachting-attempt/tabid/367/articleID/21710/Default.aspx
Guest Dry Reach
AA, Not looking at any records but suprised at how "slow" we Kiwis are at setting a few local ones. The french would have gobbled them up (local records)if they had have beaten Tasman and Cook here!. And no treaty either! oops Ad i don't think Andrew Fagan sailed around NZ in Swirly world IP. just out to a few islands.
Guest
Not correct - Andrew went right round, just stopped for a cup of tea at the Auckland Is. I'll email him and get the full route. Interesting, if I still had the mighty Cav I might have considered a Solo RTW just for the fun of it - low budget, no press, no weather router, no radio ---- ahhh peace!!!! But for me it would have to be Chichester's route, just start and finish here for convenience.

Guest
been thinking of the logistics - a solo RTW wouldn't be too expensive if it weren't a speed attempt. It's being in port that is expensive. Sure a few months food, but you would have been eating on land anyway. Biggest expense would be the depreciation of your boat after 28,000 miles.

Think of the title, fame, sponsorship deals, and fun. Ella Bache's opposition here in NZ could back this! and we could get some 15 yo male to do it and get two records for the price of one!... how old is Edwin? The title is great.... "the First KIWI male to sail solo around the world non stop" Who would have thought nobody else has done this ! christ it's 2010 and we have won the AC and launched our first space rocket. Atom Ant 0
I've often wondered how people leave the Galapagos Islands. I know how they leave - the same way they came in - in their boat. But I mean it is just sooooo BEEYOOTEEFULL that I'd wanna stay forever. Actually Mauritius looks nice too. I think the first porn film I ever saw was based in Mauritius, called Melody in Love. I've had a hankering to go there ever since.
wheels 543
I think the first porn film I ever saw was based in Mauritius, That would probably be right. The place maybe beautiful, but there are some pretty skungy things that go on there. I have friends that spent time living their. The guy was a Pilot there. They have a family of girls and they eventually left th eplace because it was just not a safe place to bring up girls. he said that even in school and right in the class room, biys would sti behind the girls and masturbate in class and the teacher would do nothing about it. Yuk!

He called Sydney on the VHF but said he wasn't stopping as he hadn't cleared out of NZ. He may have stopped in at Stewart Island on that shake down. I think L4 is right that he later went around the world non-stop, out of Gulf Harbour from memory. Rune Holmberg also went round the world via the Capes in Tuatara (called something else for the trip) but he did stop in Europe somewhere.
