  1. Therefore pointless. It has made it into the fringes of mainstream media now though. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/northern-advocate/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503448&objectid=12204899
  2. I'm going with Coppelia as well this leg. By an hour 15.
  3. Should hope coppelia was clear of cape Brett!
  4. So who's going to make a prediction? Pretty hard to pick at the moment with the race to get south before the bad weather. I.T. do we need to put a time limit on making a pick?
  5. Don't think Krakatoas tracker is playing up... Just not so good in super light airs and then the breeze has started to fill in from the West so they got it last. Titanium isn't doing so badly though?
  6. All boats have now finished. Results here: https://www.ssanz.co.nz/Results/RNZ20191.htm
  7. Awesome work Josh. Well done!! Go the mighty 10.5!
  8. Krakatoa just finished too. Gale force and katana visible from the finish boat so not too far away.
  9. Motorboat just finished. Titanium coming in to the finish now a few minutes behind.
  10. So they've had a good run overnight too. 0600 update to tracker shows motorboat turning the corner 3 miles out from the finish, just ahead of titanium. Then followed by Krakatoa then gale force neck and neck with Katana, then copellia then arbitaire.
  11. Sounds legit. They're smoking. 5 hours ish to the hen would be roughly up with record pace for a coastal classic for those boats. And they're only 2 up.
  12. Davidson 28 also good. Older design than the others mentioned and slightly older thinking in the performance and layout than the others mentioned. But I'd take a tidy d28 over a rough one of the others. Bear in mind everything mentioned above is likely to be over 30 years old so condition can vary greatly. A new engine/sails are big expenses so try and look for one with those in good condition at least.
  13. Those you've mentioned are all good boats. Also worth thinking about a farr 9.2 or a y88. All have been for sale in the price range you mention - probably a case of looking at and maybe trying to organise a sail on a few and see what you think. Personally I'd look for the tidyiest one that's had the most love you can find as it's easy to buy a "project" and blow the budget!
  14. That's what I found. Although I'm pretty sure the term isn't that new?
  15. Send it originates from a viral Facebook video posted on March 1st, 2017. The short clip features a stuntman nicknamed Larry Enticer who utters memorable catch phrases before jumping his snowmobile. “Are you silly?” he asks, before claiming that he’s “still gonna send it” despite the dark and frigid conditions outside. Larry proceeds to crash his snowmobile.
  16. I suspect it's small comfort but I only know of one gate at westhaven that's sliding. The rest are all old school "slam gates" as well.
  17. I'd think the virtual sailors would struggle to remain quite as focussed as the real ones... For most people inconveniences such as work or having a real night's sleep are likely to get in the way and mean you're probably more likely to respond to weather changes etc more quickly as a real sailor?
  18. Further, if it's the same as last years one then any residual $$ is given to charity.

    Pogo 36

Isn't the middle one the same as the top one?
  20. Funnily enough we'd spent the previous night anchored next to you. Beneteau called that's amore. Passed clipper on the way in as we were leaving.
  21. Can't directly answer your question, but my ais beacon is designed to be triggered by inflation of any life jacket it's attached to. Has a string that loops around the life jacket which if inflated pulls off the cover of the beacon and triggers it. I forget the brand but it's a common one. Has rescueme mob1 written on it - one of these may be the brand name?
  22. So had a mechanic in who has confirmed it is the pump leaking, not the lines. Estimated $1700 to remove, send for repair and reinstall. Does this seem reasonable to people here? Having not done timing of injector pumps before im not feeling confident about doing it myself...
  23. Right, thanks again for the help. Much appreciated.
