    Boat rage

A furious man captured on video ramming a woman's runabout in a moment of boat rage is a convicted murderer on life parole who could now be recalled to prison. A Herald investigation can reveal the man is John Frederick Dixon who was jailed in 1979 for beating a night watchman to death after the man refused to loan Dixon money. Aged just 16 at the time of the killing, Dixon was then one of the country's youngest murderers. His trial heard allegations that he suffered from severe anger issues and was prone to flying into fits of rage. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/tairua-boa
  2. in japan many restaurants have "all you can eat", tabehodai and "all you can drink" nomihodai menus for very reasonable prices yet very few people eat and drink themselves to an immovable stupor as they would here which is largely why restaurants here......... don't go there https://nihonscope.com/food-and-sake/what-does-nomihodai-in-japanese-mean/ A Few Etiquette Rules to Keep in Mind: Foreigners usually abuse the hell out of nomihodai, with that in mind at least have the courtesy to drink your current beverage all the way first before asking for more. poor; AM, deano + terry out with a bang! then with a whimper will they have a few runs with etnz before shipping out? LR seems to have made some of the important strides they'll need to challenge sir ben on the black land-rover jimmy loved the uncontested starts.....................that won't last! looking forward to the finals is it worth shipping/flying patriot + defiant home for a date with the sawzalls? keep'em here, strip'em' out, flip'em upside down, do something carbon-neutral;o) maybe on bastion point as rain shelters overlooking the waters

this was discussed well on the youtube livecast apparently the rule that any competitor could delay a start ONCE in that series was already there but no one had used it youtube was following the boats coms and we could hear the ineos crew complaining that they were losing hydraulic pressure even when nothing was happening, during the wind delays they traced the issue to a damaged downhaul system so they used their one 15min delay card to isolate the hydraulic leak and manually lock the downhaul in 1 position so prada had an advantage even before the start but made too man

what a race! ineos win, even with being unable to play the cunningham, so they get the 'immunity pin' no race tomorrow and the italians need to find more speed

Saturday: Luna Rossa vs Ineos Team UK – 4pm start Sunday: Ineos Team UK vs Luna Rossa – 4pm start (if required).ie if LR win Sat. race Weather permitting, spectator-friendly Course C will likely use every race day for the rest of the regatta, meaning fans on dry land will be able to get good views of the action from a number of spots in the city. "It became obvious to me, being here and living the winds, dealing with this on a daily basis, there's a very good area on Course C," Director Iain Murray said. The Course will be expanded, allowing Murra

Friday’s scheduled round robin racing has been dropped, with American Magic unable to complete repairs in time to compete as planned. Luna Rossa and INEOS Team UK will instead face off in races on Saturday and Sunday with start times on both days at 4pm. However, with INEOS only needing one more win to secure a place in the Prada Cup final, should they win on Saturday they, along with Luna Rossa, can decide whether or not to race again on Sunday in what will effectively be a dead rubber. Another quirk of American Magic’s withdrawal is the implementation of
  13. Interesting that in the presser terry seemed to suggest cutting out panels from defiant to repair the hole in patriot Possibly also suggested in the early comment "we'll fix it but it won't be pretty" Guess they don't care too much about the hydrodynamics at this stage But considering the boatbuilding facilities in Auckland I doubt they'll need to do that But if they think getting the electronics tested and systems settled will be the bigger challenge they will need to get back in the water again asap
  14. i was happy to see to the end of the maunga police hard to see how that's rates money well spent
  15. She's got a m2 hole a mtr forward of the port foil....looks like they hacked it rectangular...pics to follow

  17. Nothing better to do so rode into dock. Lots of TV cameras waiting...cold crew coming back and hugging wife + kids
  18. 8pm "Race officials say they're currently towing the boat backwards because there is a hole in the bow somewhere. They expect it will be hours before it's back at base" some big question marks now about what they need to do to rebuild her, particularly all the electronic systems and batteries. team members carrying big bits of carbon hull off the support craft https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/americas-cup-2021-american-magic-capsizes-fears-boat-will-sink-after-dramatic-prada-cup-racing/BTKDHV5UMMFE7XNEGUTTMRTX5A/
  19. over an hour later and they're still pumping OUT water so presumably there's a spilt below the waterline, letting water IN only slightly slower than the pumps can get it out... foil-case when she did the belly-flop? that big blanket/recovery sling could be there to try and cover an aft? split? debatable that they can get her home in the light... very lucky the conditions lightened instead of getting worse... jib under bow covering bow split?
  20. exciting! sucks for AM not to get that win after taking on so much water lucky not to do a 'one australia' those bilge pumps better get hammering
