Not sure I want a glossy interior, but...might use it for my decks! "Being a POR 15 moisture cured topcoat makes it ideally suited to all marine uses from decks to engine rooms."
-
Mind you, a few cans of this Rust-o-leum stuff might do the trick, as a lot of my interior has carpet lining...or whatever the heck it is called, on the cabin sides, so it really is just the bulk-heads, wet-locker, and the cabin roof -- and she is only a 26 footer. Am yet to decide whether to install headlining on the cabin roof to help with condensation in winter. 10 cans of this http://www.bunnings.co.nz/rust-oleum-2x-ultra-cover-340g-satin-heirloom-white_p00265641 = probably equal what you would pay for a can of paint, and being an inherently lazy bast*rd, the idea of spraying away in

What about the gloss versus satin / low sheen thing? I don't have enough experience to know -- but is a freshly painted high-gloss down below too glary?
-
Thanks wheels. I have the whole interior to paint,
-
Oh, and low sheen, or semi-gloss for the interior?

Whats the consensus on interior paint for cabin of a GRP sailboat? Will exterior Housepaint acrylics do ok as an interior paint? I was thinking of Dulux weathershield or similar, with a suitable primer / undercoat. I can buy 4 litres of that compared to the marine enamels of same quantity. Thoughts?

I spent some time at HMB last year, both in the water and on the hard. Easily the friendliest, most helpful bunch of marina staff I have come across.

They can stik a red hot poker where the sun don't shine. I have been told the cost of reg part B was a little over $200 a decade ago. There is NO justification for a 500% increase in that time. Even inflation at it's worst has been well under double digits. Just don't pay it. Fly another flag,

Best Flag of Convenience in my opinion would be Jersey or Guernsey. You get 10 years before needing to reregister, and only have to be a Commonwealth Citizen to qualify. You will need a 'Tonnage" survey, and they will advise you surveyors here in NZ that can do that on their behalf. You get to fly the Red Ensign which might look a bit better off in your flagpole socket than something from Nigeria. Cost initially will be near same as NZ for the certificate, but you get it twice as long, and reregister is about 75 Euro from memory.

Cockpit is teak, but not the decks.

fair call

If you have $3,500 plus .... I did inquire due to them being one of the few who makes theirs with hypalon - but the price was just too steep.
-
I am yet to confirm that, but that is their reputation - which you have now also backed up. I also have been advised Avon's rowlocks were far superior to the ones used on modern inflatables.
-
Ha - well, Avon were bought out by Zodiac, who then stopped making the Avon branded small yatchsmen inflatables a few years ago (RedStart, RedCrest, Rover etc). The only Avon's made now are the huge Rib type tenders for super yachts. So, now you are stuck with the likes of Zodiac's 'cadet' range etc, which is in PVC, not hypalon fabric. I know all this because I spent a long time trying to figure out why the hell I could not buy new Avon's in NZ, or even order them overseas. Finally I found a lightly used Avon RedCrest on T/Me for auction - I won the auction, but boy did I pay for it

The Alado furler is now SOLD. Thanks guys. Mast, boom, wire rigging, and the two pairs of Murray Winches still available.

PM sent cheers.

Hi mate. Here is part of an email I received from Len, the NZ distributor, when I was inquiring about the Alado furlers. I think it answers all your queries and confirms your 6mm stay will be fine. Here is the NZ distributors email if you have any more technical questions: sailfish.charters@xtra.co.nz By the way, I was inquiring with Len about the correct model for a forestay in the 6-7mm range as I had not decided wire size -- this is all before I decided to go junk rig of course. ___________________________________________________________________________________ "There is no problem

Bump. C'mon, someone must be looking for a roller-furler. Brand new at that.
-
This is brand new - I haven't even opened the box that FedExpress delivered it in. The only reason I am selling is that I have now decided to rig my boat as a junk rig, so the new furler is now superfluous to my needs. I paid $950 USD (I have the receipt), but I am letting it go for $800 NZD for a quick sale. MODEL: A1 Max. Stay length 35' ALADO is designed to be installed above the existing forestay deck terminal. The central aperture of the furling drum slips over terminals up to 1½" diameter for the model number I have. Maximum genoa area: 400 sq.ft.
