  1. heard a Rumour that a very famous S34 might be doing the lap
  2. I am ready to purchase my Iridium Go for next years race, would the additional YB3 tracker be a useful addition or do we already rent those for the race?
  3. Oh well! The only NZ boat I know of with that name is a glass T 34 and I got so excited when I saw the entry how cool would it be to match race the lap? Don’t suppose Sunlight could be persuaded Old Dog?
  4. Is Pac-Man a glass Townson 34.?
  5. Yeah I know OpenCountry is my benchmark for extreme caravan racing Im trying to sit Adrian into racing us so we have some company
  6. Hey Open Country still haven’t had a chance for re match since the NTR Shimmer is planning on entering the 2NI next year. . that’s a lot of chances for payback
  7. As always very useful advise and thanks heaps for helping me with that decision
  8. Hi Jon here’s a question for you with plans to do the 2NI next year I had planned on competing in the long haul division in the triple series this winter to get us some slightly longer potentially more challenging courses. However looking at entries in previous years this division seems to be mostly much faster boats than Shimmer leaving me thinking that we would have closer racing in the PIC division and that close racing always has us pushing harder. I can see benefits to both options. . . Any advice which you think would be of more use.
  9. This morning was a great trip home from Awaaroa and kids happy to go early cos of the rain!
  10. Shows just what a good job SSANZ does, if this was a SSANZ race we would know all the stories and the race would have a much higher profile. Bet you it would be different if A Young and his buddies had their harbour racers in the race. Any one know the stories behind the retirement of V5 Vixen or Charmonet?
  11. I heard he gets 10% of whatever he brings in on sponsorship
  12. Would you rather? A Grant Dalton got a bit richer in NZ B Got much richer in Spain
  13. Yep I have been wondering if we would be better off keeping things simple and hopefully keeping our PHRF low you may not get much chance to use the extra fruit but you pay the time penalty the whole way around
  14. Thanks guys some great encouragement thanks Jon now I have found the old results on the SSANZ site I see Pahi did indeed do very well. I’ll try and buy Mark a beer if we are ever allowed back to yacht clubs after racing.
  15. Ok so after having a whole lot of fun in the Northern Triangle Race my co skipper and I are really pretty keen to compete in the 2NI next year, presuming we can grab one of the limited spots, get the boat Cat 2 and that by next year we can hold races like this. in the mean time I’m looking for any good info or stories from other “caravans” that have competed in this race before The boys from Open County told me a great one recently about loosing not only their kite but also their forestry on the big leg down the west coast ”only thing holding it up was the 30 knots from behind.
  16. You are correct also sold as Sea Barrier 3000 our sales rep told me it’s all the same product
  17. Should we e mail you clean vessel certification and insurance details?
  18. Cool Open Country stoked to hear you are racing. Shimmer is in for the Auckland to Tauranga we in the fully crewed division with Rocky looking forward to the re match!
  19. If you are in touch with Adrian tell him it’s his chance to get payback on Shimmer. Thanks for the offer but we have a pretty full ship already
  20. I see Rocky has entered in the fully crewed division, Shimmer is keen too just working on leave pass from various households. Fully crewed appeals mostly due to the trip back and the chance to race with a few mates. Hey Open County any chance you guys keen? at least for once you won't have to sail home afterwards!
  21. Do you know what year Brilliant competed in RNI? was the skipper MOB an incident where he / she was recovered or was there a loss of life? If the latter I had better keep that piece of history from my better half or I can see issues in securing a leave pass for RNI 2023
  22. I have all Raymarine new in the past two years I’ve been really happy with their gear the Axiom screen is intuitive to use and everything has proven to be reliable in a big range of conditions I started with a tri-ducer and screen and have added tiller pilot and wind gear as budget has allowed and found it all very easy to install and add to. I do recommend getting the pro screen with buttons and control knob as well as touch screen as when it’s really wet we can lock the screen and still use the controls Im yet to see a touch screen that behaves once the salt water is re
  23. And got back from NTR to find this had arrived.what an awesome and inspiring read I can see why old dog wants to do a repeat I'm already promoting the idea in our household
