I got a phone call late one night from my Mum, she had put a pan with oil on the stove then went outside and the door blew shut behind her. By the time I got there I could see it on the stove and it was very hot. I picked it up and it burst into flames. Was a big mental effort not to drop it immediately, but got it onto the concrete driveway and let it burn out. Scary sh*t. Keep a look out for old people.

Was passing Burnsco today so dropped in. $150 to replace, I'll check out the place on the shore that KM mentioned tomorrow.

The boat came with three, all have little tags saying they were serviced in 2009. So I brought them home. I have 2 x 1kg, on is labelled Dry Powder the other isn't labelled. One is 2kg CO2. I shook them coz someone said that was a fun thing to do, Couldn't feel or hear anything. Should I 1) find a place to service them? 2) Buy new ones? If buy new they have them advertised at Burnsco at very cheap. But would I be buying the equivalent of a Chinese made anchor? If I buy new ones how sdoes one dispose of the old ones? Can I pull the trigger and see what happens? I know nothing

I have the soggy paws things, didn't realize they were accurate enough to naviguess with. With the google overlay on open cpn you have to move it around??? Can't get anything navionics on to my laptop except the free web version which will be no use. I put it on my phone and downloaded the fiji charts no worries. I'll try chart world?

it used to be a one off fee, your registration lasted till you de registered. Now it makes sense not to register till the last minute.

Not true. I would still very much prefer to register in Langkawi. I'm being pushed back to NZ by another bureaucratic issue altogether. The NZ super is a minor issue. Both Angela and I have spent so much time out of NZ that we would receive very little anyway. My plan is to have enough independently, if I get anything from NZ super it will be a pleasant little bonus.

Just received from MNZ Please be advised also that all fees are increasing effective 1 July 2016. If an application for Part B registration is received on or after this date, the registration fee is $1005. And they are not letting go of this golden goose.

I wonder why it says "apply to receive your super overseas"?. Pay it into my NZ bank account thanks, I'll organize access to it to suit me.
