That's nothing, I take my kids in the dinghy without a lifejacket, occasionally I'll even push them in the water (but not the younger one if she has just done her hair, apparently it stops being funny then).

I have some solar powered torches, cheap as chips from Repco and they are great. (like that??)

I have to ask, how many shysters can a town the size of Huntly maintain?
-
I wondered about that, but as above I then worried that someone might read it and take it seriously, this being a public forum.

Not attractive in the sense that not many delivery skippers would want the job. And I thought I had better call you out on the idiot idea of "anchoring every night", in case some newbie might actually have taken that seriously. As I said it would be downright dangerous.

Make excellent heaving lines don't they rigger?
-
I would go as far as saying downright bloody dangerous. It would be a stupid thing to do.

erice is on the money.

Here goes then. I have done more than one or two deliveries. To do that trip I would want about $5k, and that's assuming the boat was ready to go. You might find someone cheaper, but it isn't a particularly attractive delivery.

Rum Race on the 23rd, casual, big party afterward. Look for the thread in this forum. If you can't scam a ride get back to me.

Nice reply Kevin!!!! Do you have a photo of the duffel thing?

I don't want a full size washing machine on board, always looking for a reasonable alternative - anyone?

FLC, if you miss the deadline there's always room for one or two more on BP

Thanks guys, that's what I needed. Just looking at a whistle stop this time to pick up then drop off guests.

When you replace the post it has to be positioned perfectly or you get compression up one side of the mast. It will develop an s bend then break. Been there, done that.

We have some non sailing friends want to come for a joy ride around about new year. We hope to be in the vicinity of the Mercurys. Is Whitianga feasible as a place to pick up/drop off guests/ What's the limiting depth? Where's the best spot? Sundreamer??? Thanks

Applied professionally in May this year.

In that case the #5 is not performing as advertised. It gets very dirty very quickly and stays that way whether I sail it or not. It gets bad enough that I have no other option than to physically remove the growth (fist sized clumps of mussels anyone) and if I do that once the paint is stuffed. Jumping in the water to give it a clean doesn't bother me. And Fish says he is getting over 12 months between cleans. I'm still investigating but it sounds good to me at the moment.

I'm using Altex 5 now, barely lasts 8 months. If you do try to wipe it as it is foul it all falls off.
-
Both. You should come for a sail (I'll have the dancing girls on board).

40 knots? Is that all? I can do that upwind with a reef in, while having a shower and roasting a turkey.
