  1. Yup it's one of those I know what this feels like pics. She is listed on trademe and I would not be surprised if the hull is full length kauri planks.
  2. Bugger "After seven hours the search has been called off - Officially lost at sea"
  3. "This is grim. Quite affected by this imagine seeing your boat sailing away from you in those seas" Stuff of your worst nightmare. New a Chinese guy that got lost overboard north of Fiji off a kiwi built alloy Elliott and his partner came up on deck after a spell below to find only the bucket and shampoo. If memory serves me correctly she later sailed with Keith Levey on Sofia which got hit by the weather bomb that claimed the Quartermaster.
  4. From Dee yesterday on TTOP It is cold, bitterly cold on deck and down below. 3 degrees air temperature and 4 degrees sea temperature, makes for icy fingers and cheeks. The windy weather is due soon and we will have it blow hard for a good 12 hours before we return to the strong winds we have now, but it will take us to Cape Horn.
  5. Council and Government commit to split $200 million Cup costs. The scaled back development at $100 +million is a farkin truck load of loot for 6 temporary sheds.
  6. Been following this on SA. Fantastic marriage of old school simplicity and new age technology. http://forums.sailinganarchy.com/index.php?/topic/196512-ultralight-windvane-selfsteer-project/
  7. The parking matter from a different angle. Damned difficult to get any parking competing with the Jesus freaks at the PCC and the coffee scoffers at the Bouy. Ticketing may cost the offenders $$$ but one group will reckon it's God's will and the other lot will just think the coffee is just a tad more expensive. Towing obviously returns less to the Council coffers but as a berth holder it would be nice to be able to park a lot closer to my princess. Furthermore how does the to be developed building platform mitigate the loss of the existing carparks.
  8. Bloody packaging dont get me started. You can understand how Graeme Hart makes his pile. Worst packaging offender in my book is printer ink cartridges quickly followed by soap. Now take our own containers to Happys Takeaways for Friday nite tucker but means no online ordering.
  9. Bit like bodies what else could you store and transport them in.
  10. Photos taken by the guy on the right Henry Winkelman. His collection of plates are housed in the Museum I believe and would it not be a grand exhibition to have on display.
  11. Whangaroa Okahumoko I don't know the yacht but someone will. Here is Viking same place. Ahh the days of the one boat bay....

    Lifted this from WBF.
  13. Sure this one has come up before. In this waste a lot of everything world why cant you simply change the batteries in your Epirb. Have a GME gps beacon close to expiry and this is my third epirb from memory.
  14. Have a word with these guys. http://www.ledstuff.co.nz/ Bit of Irish economics up the mast 4 times etc. As KM says a critical bit of kit if you want to deter fizz nasties from dumping in your cockpit.
  15. Problem sorted. https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1572100358
  16. Up here in my multi million dollar Ponsonby Palace there is no separated stormwater and sewer system. The system is old like scary old and it will take a major effort and cost to remedy. Some of the fresh water supply system still runs in asbestos pipes and it amazes me that the whole system copes as well as it does. However if you ever have the unfortunate experience of having to deal with Watercare Services in either a private or professional capacity you are in for a giant shock. Simply as much use as tits on bull. Back to the holding tank issue If I had the room I would go the Air
  17. You can cure ugly but you can't cure dumb. Fizz boat nasty behavior may well respond positively regarding registration so I am keen to to see it introduced. Now as for the complete twerp in the aircraft carrier sized sailing cat that I encountered on the wrong side of the fairway a week ago at Westhaven no amount of rules are ever going to alter his thinking or lack of. I am sticking to my aim straight for the bastards manoeuver which up until now has proved to be very effective. "look at restrictions in place now, cannot take a dump in a bay without a holding tank and that is only the s
  18. You could make a movie out of this. Anybody got Harvey’s number. http://nzh.tw/12015762
  19. "It seems the Herald is slipping in its journalistic standards" Been slipping for years and agree with Fish. Poor journalism floods the mainstream media and as for standards they are well gone. You can see why the roll out of a paywall for Granny Herald never eventuated as no one is seriously going to pay for that crap. I read it by way of habit I suppose as part of my morning victuals but sure miss having my Fush n Chups all wrapped up nice and snuggly hot.
  20. Quite a character now off to "sail the roads". Wish him and his partner all the best and will be interested to see what limp wet object the authorities chuck at the cretin responsible.

    Leg 7 Start

Auckland looking bloody magnificent with a great fleet of spectators and the best city in the world turning it on today. Just forward of the beam romp up the East Coast Bays and a righty smack into 20 plus to Colville. What more do you need.
  22. No where to hide from that. Got to feel for those guys as it can sure gets ugly in a hurry out there with limited options for cover. Close in to the coast by the sounds of it.

    A long shot

Unbelievable. Obviously this is a intelligence test and the Coastgaurd has failed miserably. What happens if you rock up in a classic launch with a small mast and sail attached.
  24. Nah,Stormy told me last nite after dinner it’s fake news. Trump can’t do either.
