  1. "It seems the Herald is slipping in its journalistic standards" Been slipping for years and agree with Fish. Poor journalism floods the mainstream media and as for standards they are well gone. You can see why the roll out of a paywall for Granny Herald never eventuated as no one is seriously going to pay for that crap. I read it by way of habit I suppose as part of my morning victuals but sure miss having my Fush n Chups all wrapped up nice and snuggly hot.
  2. Quite a character now off to "sail the roads". Wish him and his partner all the best and will be interested to see what limp wet object the authorities chuck at the cretin responsible.

    Leg 7 Start

Auckland looking bloody magnificent with a great fleet of spectators and the best city in the world turning it on today. Just forward of the beam romp up the East Coast Bays and a righty smack into 20 plus to Colville. What more do you need.
  4. No where to hide from that. Got to feel for those guys as it can sure gets ugly in a hurry out there with limited options for cover. Close in to the coast by the sounds of it.

    A long shot

Unbelievable. Obviously this is a intelligence test and the Coastgaurd has failed miserably. What happens if you rock up in a classic launch with a small mast and sail attached.
  6. Nah,Stormy told me last nite after dinner it’s fake news. Trump can’t do either.
  7. David Barker Logan variation. Not sure about the outboard. Roger Hill powercat.
  8. Fish, re the helicopter thing you are not related to Rod Duke by any chance. The pool well it's a must have due to the the amount of skin irritating plastic in the ocean. Man the coolest thing about this beauty is the custom made model of her that you would have sitting on the desk whilst you are making your daily millions . I got a photo of my old woody sitting in the ute, not quite in the same league. Rats at some stage I am going to cross over just not yet and it is bloody hard to find a 10m classic stink pot that has adequate interior space and a lie down cockpit. My super plainly wil
  9. Bugger. Well, I am not one to dwell on a lost opportunity so here is plan B. https://www.fraseryachts.com/en/yacht-for-sale/seawolf/
  10. Appears as if ETNZ will now not look for a permanent legacy base at the end of Hobson Wharf. Next question, where does the massive ASB carpark get relocated to.
  11. Interested in knowing where your engine sources it’s fresh air intake from.
  12. That’s a welcome relief to all us armchair diesel mechanics and your wallet.
  13. Dropped into Pah Homestead a while ago and there was a small but delightful display of Magewappa. You rock off to the local Chinese Takeaways and get a feed for the whanau that comes in a friggen plastic container that will outlive humanity in a landfill. Interesting back story to the origins of this woodenware. https://kogeijapan.com/locale/en_US/odatemagewappa/
  14. Fish you may want to sound viscous about the silt run off but the reality on the ground in this part of the world was plenty evidenced by the recent coastal flooding and resulting land run off. Drove this coast just after the last bad weather and clay run off was everywhere mainly generated by slippage lost to the sea. Have a close look at Puffs Ariel photos and note that the areas most effected are cleared land.
  15. Get a kit and voila you can tackle all sorts of underwater tasks
  16. Louis introduced me to Mr Friendly at 2.40
  17. I have done a bit with wood in my life but nothing like this. The thing that turns my dial, grown men fixing stuff with no airs and graces just skills banked from a life time of experiences No evidence of high levels of life killing stress and little regard for the health and safety nazis that have run amok in my world. You leave a legacy doing this kinda stuff not a pile of loot.
  18. It’s just a helpful option if required. Best have somebody who knows what they are talking about actually look at the engine.
  19. Been watching this as it reminds me of the reason why I own a woody. I have a aversion to accumulating wealth.
  20. With the engine running how much blow by or venting is there from the rocker cover if the oil filler cap is removed. Not the listing I had in mind but not a bad option if you have to swap out your old donk. https://www.trademe.co.nz/business-farming-industry/industrial/engines-motors/diesel/auction-1566696925.htm?rsqid=2b813eb511824908bda2562eb41098e4
  21. Bit of a long shot but up until a couple of days ago there was a complete motor listed on trade me. Otherwise they are a tractor motor and try Norwoods
  22. Been in touch with both Shaw Diesels here and Gardner in England. No issues with supply of parts or servicing from their view.
  23. "if it can be done in a ratepayer acceptable cost" What would be acceptable. Appears like this Cup could end up costing the rate/taxpayer in excess of $250m. ETNZ probably thought that once they had secured and returned with the Poisoned Chalice and completed their countrywide tiki tour that Auckland City ratepayers would drop their financial panties at Dalton and Co's feet and build the Taj Mahal of Cup infrastructure along with accepting to pay a staggering hosting fee. Ahh, happy days they thought. "This is a major land development project, with tight timeframes, paid for by publ
  24. Is that a Farr design. Jack Cropp springs to mind. Could be wrong and would not be the first time.
