  1. Come on all you B division boats Black Pearl etc
  2. There are a lot of 40' odd yachts that this would be ideal for.
  3. Ok entries in last night, who else is coming for this Westhaven to Westhaven event? Could be NZ's Fastnet in a few years.
  4. Yes unfortunately Milford was possible for beamy multis before the bridge was built by going around the outside of the sill but no more.

    Cool Boat

Bloody accountants, I hate it when they are right.😉

What I dont agree with is that you cant build the same here for similar money-look at the RM boats built in France.

    Cool Boat

Totally agree, passage events are where its at -they wont beat a masthead Ross 30 or a Tigger up or rather down our ever narrowing river, but should be great fun outside as Mark's Far East was .

    Cool Boat

Check out the new sunfast, a better fit for speed and our waves too
  9. An unusual bit of publicity this-as there is very little commercial trawling in the Gulf for years, still I wish to know where I am allowed to fish? Why did they not copy parts of the UK where oyster dredging has limited licences and must be carried out under sail ! I would fully back a ban on fishing from any powered craft in the inner gulf, would suit me perfectly Of course the discrepancy between the commercial size and the recreational size hasnt been addressed.
  10. What a shame they are a great little ship, we were amused at the call on Saturday afternoon from someone on the squadron patrol boat , calling the coastguard, (who are directly inside where the unfortunate boat came ashore on Friday) stating that they were the Royal Yacht Squadron and a yacht has gone ashore in Okahu Bay . So the Royal Yacht Squadron is in Cowes and Okahu Bay is a couple of miles East of the site. Perhaps navigation and geography should be entered in the training syllabus of the crews.
  11. The Loxo is very buildable in ply, Garys one in Ngunguru is much more about living aboard and cruising very economically ie slowly.
  12. Dont worry house fixed and that boat (Bootstrap no 2) has been cruising under power for a few years.
  13. Elly who told you it was returning to Auckland ? Losing it here would be much better for NZ than losing overseas, or winning it overseas. Once again if the AB's played all their games in the UK -how much backing would they have after 10 years? (Just to be clear I have sat up through many Sunday nights watching all Formula 1 live -but very few do.)
  14. As a berth holder in Westhaven, bye bye cup, bring on the cyclebridge 👍
  15. Wow, maybe negotiate the best outcome for their backpocket not country Fogg. BP at least we can engage in real yachting here, I will be racing and cruising this weekend and look forward to the coastal and Three Kings events -see you on the beach sometime -or at Tall Ships.
  16. PS another excellent cartoon in the Herald today
  17. BP he did specifically mention the hosting fee, as opposed to operational costs so you are on the right track.
  18. Interesting statement by Dalton- repeated that the failed campaign years ago in Valencia cost more than the successful defence here this year. If we are to believe that the new money package will have to be more than double the 99 million on offer here to defend in the UK or Europe. As an aside the Black Heart / Loyal thickos from the past seem awfully quiet this week ..........
  19. What no Harry John or Bruce??
  20. DP -more likely taking a road bike....
  21. Thats your world Fogg, but dont call it Team NZ or give public money , a TP52 based event would bring an exciting defenders series heaps of challengers and supporting superyachts here. We would get a whole summer of quality racing and the spin off, of course there would be no need for multi million $ CEOs either.
  22. A strange part of what Grant said last night and he repeated this: Mission to retain the cup is first priority , Team and individuals come after this. Then in the next breath he asserts that defending it against multiple challengers in the Solent (or wherever) will likely succeed better at this than defending against fewer challengers down here on our home waters ?? The underlying current of course is that money rules-as it always has with the business of the Americas Cup, so knowing this the government should probably shut the seacock of cooling funds to the overheated engine of ETN
  23. There are a large no at both Bayswater and Westypark still living aboard
  24. A very depressing meeting tonight at the squadron, with Grant Dalton leading the way, obviously called quickly in response to a lot of long standing members questioning the need to defend offshore. Grant presented us with his scenario, pretending to forget Jim Ratcliffes name was the first sign of total spin, (no wonder National looked past him all those years ago when he considered politics). Conveniently forgetting the promise last year that if we won the marine industry would get a payback in the next defence hopefully after Covid this time,( I have been in the marine industry si
