Costa Minta 2
Has anyone had trouble anchoring in Omiha bay close to the moored yachts. Our anchor has dragged twice on two different occasions. 7.5 trailer yacht - 20 knt SW winds - Delta anchor - yacht does not normally drag it's anchor. Any thoughts anyone? - apart from don't anchor there lol.
Fish 0
What weight / size delta? How much chain, and How much scope are you putting out?
Costa Minta 2
6kg Delta - 8m chain - scope 1:5 - does not usually drag - rock bottom maybe?

Costa Minta 2
Hi rmikerWas that in Omiha Bay among the moored yachts?
ex Elly 197
I've never dragged there. But I now prefer to anchor just off the beach to the west. Maybe you could try there?
harrytom 642
Wouldnt be my choice of bays in a sw 20knt, virtually straight in unless you get tucked up behind the point.
chariot 243
That was my first thought HT.
Costa Minta 2
Thank you every one for your comments and your pm's - agree with HT - We get seduced by a pleasant bush walk up to Batch winery - I know we shouldn't - I have concluded that the short, steep chop developed in those conditions was our undoing. we will avoid anchoring there in those conditions in the future. waikiore 399
Bad Kitty anchors in the bay to the South of there often, and saved my boat as it made its own way out a month or two back (chain around anchor as KM says it happens)
Plato 11
Be aware that chop tends to shorten the scope s the bow lifts and falls. Plenty of scope in stronger winds, and watch those tide ranges!!
