Black Panther 1,591
ANd they hasd a much nicer trip! Looking at the weather through the week it could favour the little fellas as the breeze doesn't really return till Sat.
Island Time 1,239
Yep, absolutely. This really has so far turned into, as predicted, a race for the big boats. Steinlarger is doing well, the conditions suit her. Beau Geste and Giacomo are having a good race - only 20 miles apart, almost 1/2 way there. The performance 50's come next in a pretty close group. good racing there as well. There is really no-one who is left behind, the racing is good - but it will be pretty uncomfortable out there, especially in the smaller boats, everyone being hard on the wind.... Guest
How acturacte is that weather data though? even if it was only 25 knots, you dont know the sea state or how heavy the gusts are? Must be pretty heinous.
B00B00 310
It was pretty lively out there. We were down to 2 reefs and #4 jib with winds 25 - 35 and squalls up to 35kts. A confused seaway with an easterly and northerly sea piling up. We sustained some damage on a harsh landing and had a bit to much movement in the keel system to carry on. More info to come after a closer investigation but there was no way we could carry on especially with at least another 2 days of the same or worse ahead. As allways David its much easier to bleat on about how many withdrawls there have been when you are sitting at home and not out there. Lets not go down that path..... Black Panther 1,591
Too true, my guesstimate was from nothing more scientific than occasionally looking at the tracker (a good way to pass time at work is fantasizing about where we would be in the the fleet in those conditions) so thanks to Booboo for the update.
