Boatworks 23
We lost our carbon kite pole overboard near Motiuhe Island around 1pm on Saturday 10 October during the Gold Cup race. It's off a Ross 40, clear coated black, around 5.5m long. Yes it was bungeed on but clearly not well enough. Would very much like it back if anyone sees or hears of it turning up - we don't know how long it would have floated for. Thanks
John B 106
Good luck , stranger things have happened. The whole fleet looked just fantastic hooking past the haystack We were out just shootin for some food , when up from the ground came a whole damn fleet of race yachts. El Toro 97
Confirmed the prop folded in during prestart.....had been playing on my mind all race!
Clipper 343
We lost a carbon pole off Elysium a few years back, tried about 5 times to retrieve, until we watched it sink. I don't have high hopes for your pole sorry.
chic014 0
There's always hope http://www.sail-worldcruising.com/The-remarkable-story-of-a-Jockey-Pole-lost-in-the-2005-Transpac/138056?ntid=39&subid=%3C:id:%3E&nlid=464739&tbl=%3C:tableName:%3E&ck=5vg%3C:password:%3E&area=Sail-World%20Cruising%20Southern%20Hemisphere&title=Eliminating%20plastic%20bags%20from%20the%20world

I don't have high hopes for your pole sorry. Yep obviously we are not that hopeful - we figure the best case scenario is probably having to bid to buy it back off a fisho on Trademe! The good news, thanks to the generosity of another member of the R40 brotherhood (Smithy off Marshall Law), we do now have a backup option for the Coastal. And working on a replacement pole. I had seen the story about the Southerns pole that turned up a few months back - amazing coincidence...
rossd 16
Reminds me of the time I lost a boat hook over the side and took about 5 goes to keep it in sight and retrieve it by myself. At least was good practice and showed me how something that looks simple can in reality be so hard.
philstar 61
Can't be too hard to fill the new pole with foam so it floats eh simon
Boatworks 23
Can't be too hard to fill the new pole with foam so it floats eh simon Yep. And I'd even settle for just tying it on...maybe to the bowman next time... haha
RushMan 31
Not tied on! What sort of race boat are you running?
philstar 61
In defence of the bow people apparently it was bungied to the deck. Not one of the 10 crew onboard saw it go over the side. It was a very sneaky kite pole.
ScottiE 174
are you sure its not still there and you just need a proper "mummies look"!
