Dagwood 57
Re the 5 short blasts - just what intentions could a concrete wharf have that a master would be unsure of?
Island Time 1,246
Not the wharf, the people on it! Fair enough I reckon. I don't know what happened, but looks like a machinery failure to me.
tuffyluffy 76
Apparently that ferry has had gearbox issues and the skipper couldn't select reverse.
Beccara 25
Well the concrete's current path of not moving was clearly dangerous to the oncoming ship hence the 5 blasts
Sparky 20
Moving the crowd control barrier tape back was a good idea!!
wheels 543
I saw this a few days back when it happened. The Skipper was yelling that She could not get the boat into reverse. I would have thought blasting the Horn continuously would have been better, but then maybe the Skipper had her hands full.I have to say, it's impressive how little damage was caused. That was a solid impact and instant stop. I did not hear if any passengers were injured. The Vessel has been removed from service till it can be assured that the problems are fixed. Apparently the vessel has had many issues with it's control of the gearbox. Sounds like an Electronic system.
Romany 162
I especially liked the blast after it had come to rest, as if to say "fxxxk it"
