armchairadmiral 411
Transom board of our inflatable has detached from its rubberised frame. Any advice on how best to repair and what glue to use ?

Ex SanFran 15
I've gone through a few different tubes of glue. Don't cheapen out and only use one for pvc or hyperlon, whichever your tender is made from.
Island Time 1,293
Bostic - get it from the glue guru in wairau rd... Works great. but as above, once one seam goes, the whole lot is suspect

Island Time 1,293
Ive used this on PVC dinghies a bit. Cleaned with MEK first, bond was stronger than the PVC...
Luigi Vercotti 7
Use the same glue that's keeping your wallet closed. It's seems to be pretty strong stuff, so should do the trick.😀
armchairadmiral 411
Thanks all especially Luigi. That's nice !. Unfortunately it seems you misunderstood. It's the wooden transom that's come away from the rubberised / PVC insert frame. The dinghy itself is in primo condition and what's happened is a glue failure. Thx IT. chariot 244
Had a similar problem a few years ago. Next thing the handles fell off. It was all down hill from there. That's why i suggested buying a new one.

Did exact same repair and it worked . Used the bostic with a special additive . Made sure transom was dry and sanded it back to fresh wood then sealed with epoxy . Use MEK to clean off old glue . Use care with MEK or you will end up growing a 3rd testicle ....or worse
madyottie 82
I've been wondering the same thing. Left the deflated dink in the back of the car for a few days, pulled it out to find transom and handles coming unstuck. Oops.
