wheels 543
At least the boat was OK and it was just the crane.
Atom Ant 0
Yeah I think I know the one - got splashed across the world around 18 months ago. Featured horrified looks of sales execs on the boat holding on grimly as the "palace" plunged bow first into the drink.
Guest
Saw it happen once many years ago, the crane driver dropped the boat rather than lose the crane, his rationale - the load was insured, if I lose the crane I'm out of work for up to 12 months trying to get another crane. Steve Pope 251
Same sort of thing happened to a boat called Summerhawk at Whakatane a lot of years ago. The foot of one of the hydraulic legs went through the deck of the wharf, crane landed on the top of the boat and sunk it.
wheels 543
I remember a story and pics of a yacht being salvaged just after Hurricane Katrina. The boat had been washed up hi onto a bank and was completely OK. They got a crane in on a barge to lift the boat back into the water. But the wire rope failed and a 1.25ton hook/pulley/rope assembly dropped right through the boat writing it off.
Fogg 427
The crane driver made an impressively quick exit from the cab, he was out well before it fully toppled over.
