I hear mathew flyns new 40 foot tri is here in auckland hiding at vaudrey miller. Are there any secret squirrels out there to get some pics?

A pity it has too many hulls for your preference ahe Matty.

 

Looks like it will be fun.. especially in under 15knots.. which supposedly is 80% of the time in Auckland?

 

Any idea how long till splash day?

looks like it needs a bit of work but what a machine! yes in the photos it does looks smaller than 40. the hulls do not have much freeboard but they do have a lot of volume. it will be a weapon!

the front chain plate is pretty different looking? whats all the attachment points for?

It goes, Staysail, Forestay, Solent, Zero.

 

Similar to the set up on Geant, as Biscuits Cantreau they could have 3 furled headsails on at the same time.

 

Its certainly going to be a very fast boat in the light with such a massive rig and also being sooo light.

It will give TVS a decent run for its money in some conditions.

Matt hurry up and get that thing sailing. Seriously cool.

 

Man it is exciting times in the open fleet. so much optimisation and tinkering happening it is soooo exciting.

well hopefully we get more than 2 or 3 boats in the only open fleet regatta of the year (BMW)

update

 

the cockpit is off the mould and looking good, deck cut off and hull stripped out allong with old centreboard case and cabin top ready to be glued in.

 

more updates next week.

The daggerboards in the armas look like an awesome shape.

 

Cockpit glued in and setting up for the cabin to be glued on by the look of it.

 

The part of the stern that was cut off on the main hull has now been glued and tapped back on.
