  1. Couldn't get there last night - how was it?
  2. too small if you want to race an 8.5!
  3. does anyone know anything about the Hondas? Their BF20 wieghs and costs about the same as the yamie 9.9 high thrust.
  4. Hi Aaron, Replied by email!
  5. Yeh - pretty much. From the stern she looks a bit like Energiser/Fully Charged which I've always liked.
  6. the new one! okay then . . . after a decade of so of Euphoria, its time to go Ballistic (she doesn't look that good at the moment!)
  7. here's a link to the last time it was discussed here http://crew.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic/11114-using-durapox/ its a Resene RALI product so you'll be good with them was thinking of using it to do the inside of my boat some time back.
  8. sh*t - I had messages going back to 2005!
  9. you don't miss a trick eh! All in good time Ken. gonna try heating the thrust bracket and freezing the stud this afternoon - one last "crack"!
  10. yeh - I think that'll be the plan. Just need to convince my brother-in-law to drive across from One-hunga to meet me for 6am on a fresh May morning as a backup! It's a cat and I think I'll put the dinghy alongside the inside of one hull - easily accessible from the transom step gets the o/b much closer to centre.
  11. I think its a forum message board problem - have had the same issue for a wee while now. Can only message Matt. I could be in for a sheet.
  12. So I need to get the boat from her mooring about 400m to the haul ramp at the Panmure YC. Can't get the old o/b off the transom - motor still belongs to previous owner and I don't want to start it as it has sat for a while. Can't move the transom studs - they are very heavily corroded. Doused them over fours hours with 556 today and will have another go with a crescent tomorrow. Bit worried about just how rotten the metal actually is! Another option is to hacksaw them off though they are very very close to out full travel. Any clever ideas out there as to what to do? Got another o/b rea
  13. Awesome reconn tool for a light airs coastal though - if only the range was another 5 or 10 nm!
  14. Speaking personally - I think this, could have merit. More boats in cat3 race trim before re-moding for summer cruising. Effectively you have the ssanz races, the CC then a2t. Can't help but think it would benefit all.
  15. thanks guys. Yeh the main reason I'm looking at them is to provide natural ventilation while off the boat to the forepeak bunks. The 28810 passive ventilator seems like a good solution given we alwasy have some form of breeze in Auckland. Quite like the idea of it providing translucent light below as well.
  16. Wow - gotta hand it to the French - Rothschild's going nuts with this one! http://www.gitana-team.com/en/event.news.aspx?eventid=97&newsid=1118
  17. No synergy with them and a certain Airhead then?
  18. "He (ed - Clipper) has something called VOOM. Voom is so hard to get, You never saw anything like it, I bet." Go big - they have one of those yammy's on Manic - a highly modded Turissimo
  19. Anyone had any experience with these? http://www.marinco.com/en/n20020 http://www.marinco.com/en/n28810 http://www.marinco.com/en/n20704s The last one is sold ion Burnsco as the Nicro solar ventilator I get the feeling that we wouldn't actually need the solar powered ones here as there's usually enough breeze about to drive the passive ventilator.
  20. nice - lots of people round the world toying with this concept. Looks like someone needs to by Careless Intent for a project test bed like that!
  21. just put a merc. 8hp on my GBE. 23.5kg - lightest on the market. Suffers heading into 25kts and short chop with the family hunkered in a cockpit - speed around 45.kts. 7kts pretty readily in the flat.
