  1. I gave up that moolarky ages ago. Unless it's unreasonably expensive, I found the Singapore Air connections well worth the extra couple of hundred bucks. Sometimes it's even one of the cheapest options. Heathrow to AKL - 26h flytime (singapore and airNZ) Zurich to AKL -24.40h flytime (Singpor and AirNZ) Ice north of Auckland?
  2. Holy crap! I was offered a topside vinyl wrap in my choice of colour with a 6y guarantee for 1100 euro... That must be a legend sprayjob!
  3. They're 90K euro, or there abouts, but that's sans sails and the lifting keel is likely to be about another 5k. also ex GST. That's why I indicated +- tax and extras etc. But it's also fit for ocean work, and is unsinkable, like the 36...
  4. A lot of good points here being discussed. A 30y old kiwi boat, as Motorbike points out, suited the market just fine 30y ago when it was new, but people want more from their boats now. Is that a thing to bemoan? That given the technological advancements, and the things that people can now do that directly compete with yachting for precious little family time, people actually want or expect more from their boats than an H28 or a nice T32 can offer? How do we measure quality? Our kiwi boats were awesome 30y ago. Also, even though some of those 30y old boats were and still are quickish b
  5. Likewise! We need an effective association and method to push this stuff up the line and fight for our interests. I'll join that association, btw.
  6. So at the end of it all, it seems to be a case of a person being in a position of power that exceeds their level of competence? OK, so who is going to push this up the line and make sure that something is done?
  7. This is what I'm talking about. And I'd wager that removal of safety equipment also falls under the same category.
  8. clearly this needs to be pushed up the chain.
  9. We'd all like to think so, but Kea is also a Greek Island...
  10. I think it's clearly a either a screw up in the law through poor writing, or the guy is over reaching his authority and above all, it's misinterpreting the intent of the Act, or all of the above. I can pretty much guarantee that the intent of the act is not to deprive visiting sailors of necessary safety equipment, nor to deprive returning NZ sailors of necessary and mandated safety equipment. Someone should challenge this, make it public if necessary, and demand that those who've had flares confiscated have the cost of replacing those flares covered, due to the overzealous misinterpre
  11. How does one embed youtube videos? Here's the weekend's achievement. https://youtu.be/gAx61AWZjLI 9.4 knts true wind, +7kn boat speed at about 63-64° I can't quite zoom in to check the numbers but they're there on the display. I'm totally hooked.
  12. Here's a little perspective: All tide marina on South coast of Brittany - basically a sailing Mecca for racers... Awesome sailing, access to the Atlantic, a ton of places to go for overnight and longer trips. Sheltered, community owned (local body) marina up a tidal river. probably +500 boats up there, in a number of marinas and swing moorings, Grid and large ramps, scraping of boats on the grid etc... 12x4m slip with finger. €1800... per YEAR...
  13. Went to Sainte Marine, Bretagne. Watched a Pogo 30 short tack up the ditch... impressive to say the least. Completely killed the other late model plastic boat of similar dimensions doing exactly the same thing.
  14. How do we know they didn't fish there? How does one define "customary"? Not taking sides here, I just want to know.
  15. Took the Dinghy off its building stocks...still less than 50kg
  16. Take lots of money. Mooring is quite pricey, and there very few places where you can even anchor for free... Chartering the boat is the leat expensive part of a trip to Croatia. Also, last time i was there (2014?) They were happy to accept my Boatmasters cert and MROC as all that was needed.
  17. so they solved a floating floor board problem for $20?
  18. I've seen it like that too, in Norway, of all places. But those big steel fishing buoys, when they break apart in the surf they make the best ever fire bowls.

    That's how I see it.

They did say they were looking at ways to speed up, but I think they are very quality conscious. They're not a big production yard and I think they're v proud of that.

Light displacement: 8 800 kg Somehow 3600kg seems... faster... She's probably an awesome boat, and If I were in the market for a more regular cruiser I'd have her high on my list. But I can't see her hitting 15knts in 20knts of breeze... and man that's a lot of rain forest down below...

Yes there is that. The expected delivery is mid-to-late 2019, we're hull #47..., they're starting hull 13 at the moment... Seems like they expect to push about 1 a month out of their yard. There are a number of other manufacturers making "similar" boats. But I think it will be a little while before the competition catches up in terms of disp etc. current competitors are 20-30% heavier. I think there are likely a lot of different reasons people choose the boats they do. It seems that many people really want a boat that oozes opulence or the feeling of opulence (whether the teak is 2mm
