  1. Many of the Taranaki trailer yachts cruise on the Rotorua lakes, a quick ask around will soon get you sorted.
  2. Thanks Sundreamer. That has given me an idea or two to work with, one maybe able to get to the spreaders in some comfort (safety) and use spinnaker pole topper exit box ....
  3. As a consequence of our shake down sail and over nighter we have ended up with the main halyard pulled inside the mast. Forgot the knot when putting mast up and while at anchor over night the rocking pumped the halyard ! The boat is a Farr 940 (Noelex 30), so relatively light tapered mast. There is a 6 mm topping lift that goes to the top. I estimate the halyard is 3-4 m inside the mast. I feel the recovery (via a trip up the mast) is outside of my comfort zone, so are looking for advise and help on this one; 1) How would you do this (trip up mast, pushing it back in), parking next to
  4. Hi Agree with the tardis comment! Sure is after a 6.5 m trailer yacht. She is normally kept on the trailer in a hard stand on Lake Rotoiti (www.boptys.net) it is possible to launch her single handed. The two of us can get the Mast up and down, due too a very well engineered A frame system for getting it done. Our plans are to have her in a marina for 2-3 months each year and back on the lake the rest of the time. Have had her on the lake for past year, gave us time to learn how to sail her, reefing, manovering etc. We got her from Taupo, the national home of 30's.
  5. Hi Yes she is a Farr940(Noelex 30). We have had trailer yachts for over 30 yrs and are Rotorua based. This way we get a bit of both.
  6. Yes it is a change .... sure was nice to have some space.
  7. Moved the boat up to Auckland. Now parked at Pine Harbour.

  11. I'm sure all MDF's, plus displays like the Garmin GMI 20, B&G Triton will display any N2k inputs from units like that. The Actisense is another nice unit.

    iPads nav

I use the Garmin Bluecharts on a iPad mini (with 3G) so it has the GPS chip, works well as a supplement or backup. The screen is larger than the handheld so it's pleasant in that respect. It's a very useful aid and has worked well on Coastal and Auck to Tga type events. As IT points out there are potential shortfalls, however there are advantages too.
  13. Thanks Wheels, that's what I thought too, evidently there are pressure and flow ranges, straight through and right angle models ete etc. My existing (now broken one) is a long way from the BBQ spec. Does it matter for stove etc if the pressure is 'high' ?
  14. Hi Looking for what I take to be a model 7020 regulator. Who supplies such. Thanks Tried to add pictures but doesn't seam to work.

  16. Hi Kevin, Yes we chartered one in the Whitsundays, we now own a Farr 940 ! I ha e seen one for sale in Auckland for $120k a few years ago.
  17. The Catalina 320 has a useful solution to this problem. They have two lift out panels that opens up about 70% of the bulkhead. Have a look here; http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/13851#
  18. Yes; Maritime NZ has one rule Yachting Nz has some too Each Regional Council has its own 'harbour regs' too, same agree, many don't.

  20. Quick question; is there any reason one can not install the flush mount deck fitting for a water tank or fuel tank above the oil filler on ones motor. It should be water proof. My oil filler has about 80 mm, space above it, but is back about 0.8m from the front, or 0.5m from the side access. Not easy for getting the new oil in. The idea is remove bung and insert funnel an pour in oil ?
