  1. Of course not... to them it is just a job, do what needs to be done, collect a wage and go home. It is only if some twaat comes along who wants to justify his existence by "identifying" an opportunity to expand his officious kingdom that you might get some action. In this country enforcing "compliance" is seen as an easy money cash cow by those too lazy to be productive in any real way. With a few exceptions, compliance and permitting has got out of control and is now little more than a form of tax on productivity and freedom under the guise of "we need to enforce this for the wellbeing

    How to remove this

No, both threads will be conventional, right hand.... think of a piece of threaded rod..... Other wise.... one end will undo while the other does up... consider a turn buckle.

    How to remove this

See how you go... on my boat the studs on the out board end are to position the bearing inline with the dead wood, the stud on the inboard end is just for locking to stop the assembly unscrewing from the tube. Clamping force is the threaded tube between the two ends. I must have made close to a 50 stern tubes over the years... some times one end is silver soldered on, and on a couple of occasions I have seen the tube and bearing a one piece casting.... but threaded both ends is by far the most common configuration.

    How to remove this

Firstly.. what make of boat is is... others may have the same experience. Then, is the stud made of SS or bronze? When the studs are out or below the bearing housing the the housing usually screws off the stern tube.... how ever there are many variations on this theme so it would be good to find someone with experience particular to your boats arrangement. What is on the inside by the gland and is it easy to get to?... If threaded, you may be able to remove the gland, un-thread that end, and pull the stern bearing and tube out together.
  5. I tried google translate... but it still comes out gibberish to me... Looks to a germanic language as I understand a few words... to, the, will, be, and so on

  10. PM to "Editor" has gone un-answered, it would seem there is no appetite to fix the problem with photo album folders. Would seem I am alone in wanting to set up a folder with neat cruising and boating photos like before and after...
  11. Thanks BK... that is the type of guidance I am after...
  12. So I have a small sump to collect the drainage from the galley sink and small shower. Currently I have a Rule shower sump setup that does not like coffee grounds.. and I do not want to be cleaning it or the strainer weekly. I am planning to make a new sump tank and set up a 12v external pump, to handle up to 7mm diameter soft solids from the galley... and hair from the shower drain... Who has a proven tried and tested pump they could recommend? Thanks
  13. I am just aboyt finishing the 18 month haul out touch up and antifoul, I suspect I am about 2 years away from the same full bottom paint removal task, but being timber I will use a heat gun and paint scraper... it will be interesting to see how that will compare time and effort wise, when to soda blasting tungsten scraping, paint stripper or other...
  14. Still out with only an ipad?... thanks
  15. Removed rudder and replaced the copper sheeting that protects the dead wood from bugs n stuff where antifouling cannot reach... Then a little more sanding, priming, sanding, filling...... more sanding, undercoating, sanding, top coating × 2, boot topping and antifouling....and splash.

  19. You guys will soon figure out I am one of those... "Oh, that reminds me" kind of guys A number of years back I am at the yard of a Swedish water jet manufacturer.... I took with me a couple of NZ jet boating videos, sprinting and river racing for a show and tell... One of my hosts said they had a jet boat that does 45 kts, they will take me out on Saturday... Saturday came and we walk down a jetty and stop at this big heavy timber planked boat about 35 odd feet... .45kts? Not in a month of Sundays. Cock pit cover removed and stowed, battery isolator on, ignition on then my host depr
