  1. I've got a keel bolt question for my Cav32. Mine was built in 1974 so mid to later end of the production line. When I purchased it, it had a rectangular fibreglass packer around the aft most keel bolt (top of the image) which intersected the timber/fibreglass stringer. Only about half the threads where in contact with the bolt and I think some glue at the top of the both helped to fix it in place. I'd always thought this was some temp maintenance patch job that previous owner/s never got around to fixing. However, I've since removed the 5mm fibreglass packer expecting to see some reason f
  2. Thanks everyone! I'll take it apart and see what I'm dealing with
  3. Hi all, my Cav32's 150amp breaker consistently trips when I press the anchor winch switch. It does engage the motor very briefly, but doesn't turn the windlass. The previous owners had no experience with the winch as they only used club moorings. So far, I've cleaned the contacts on the windlass switch which helped as before it wouldn't engage the motor at all. I'm inclined to believe it's the electric motor as if it can briefly engage I don't think the solenoid is at fault? Aside from looking for shorts, does anyone have troubleshooting advice? Any help is appreciated
  4. It's possible there could also be a larger donation behind the scenes subsidising the $5 for each passenger, which would constitute a charter in my books. But that's just speculation

    Weather apps

+1 for Predictwind as it seems to be more aimed at boaties than a general purpose weather app like Windy which caters for a range of sports. One of my fav features in the paid version you get a historical comparison of all the weather models for your area so you can learn to work out which model is more reliable. For me in Wgtn - it appears to be ECMWF then UKMO. Like someone else mentioned even the free version is useful to view and compare the 6 different modelss.
  6. Thanks Island Time, I’ll be keen to put my name down for the next batch order
