  1. Delete opto- isolated in favour of “some such” electrical isolation . Haha. Hope so anyway as I don’t fancy increasing fuse size or manually adjusting for volt drop!
  2. Curious to outcome so do tell. I obsessed over the placement of mc618 sense positive on Lithium house and Argofet separated start because the mc618 is essentially driven by the start bat with a potential feed from Li in the sense wire. Assume it’s opto-isolated or some such and only an electronic fault/meltdown would enable, as potential in this wire is only for differential to alternator potential for fine tuning reg switching. With 1A fuse it’s hardly likely to carry any current. I have had no problems. So,surely it must be inside your regulator and a fault to start positive is
  3. Dried & smoked- any good? Could have some medicinal properties. No? Research the crap out of it and we can become the eradication experts. New export. Surely our PhD's can come with something better than California scorched earth. We could always introduce a predator and create another problem, kick the CAN down the road.
  4. PS. It has a shunt/hall sensor onboard so would be surprised now if current switching limits were not configurable.
  5. Yep, thats it. I had a family member working in the states so didn't even cost half that. Mine is time based as opposed current based so still pretty dumb. Dont know about latest iteration. I bought it as I was going LiFePo4 med term and it supposed was good for that. (then, 7yrs ago) Can do custom settings which works ok for LiFePo4, pre top balance top off. seriously hands-on tho.Seeing as it cost<$500nz and I have it already I'll put up with it. Was excellent for my FLA's . Agree with CD & so does Pronautic, but nobody is going to set these default at 16V+ for rank & file
  6. I have been using my “equalisation “ setting on the pronautic 1250p dock charger for the last seven years sporadically. 15.5V for 4hrs was default, after fully charging. Seemed to get the rested 100% soc voltage higher and tail current more defined with increased capacity. Was always too lazy/busy to set up a proper capacity test, so somewhat subjective. I was always chasing that elusive 100%, now I’m the opposite trying to reduce soc in case I don’t come back to the boat for a few weeks. New tech, new problem!
  7. Fair comment. But at this point in time that if it’s going to stop you getting good holding it will most likely be in one of the notified areas and you shouldn’t be there. In future who knows. Small consolation, its not taxifolia! What gets me also is the “throw it back” instead of instructions how to kill it and bin it.
  8. The whole idea is not to set your anchor in caulerpa, breaking it up and exacerbating the spread. So is the question not somewhat academic and currently illegal?
  9. Retract that. Unsubstantiated, probably erroneous.
  10. Thanks for removing the voting right on my posts AA, why don’t you gag me completely.
  11. Ok , prioritise areas of highest risk.
  12. Linking back to blaming boaties. The first rule of bureaucrats isn't to get a job done. If it was, they'd be in the private sector. The first rule is to deflect. The second rule is to evade. The third rule is to confuse. So to blame boaties is a genius move from MPI. It covers their arse completely. The public will blame boaties instead of blaming MPI like they did with PSA and M. Bovis. Gold. +10 As cliche as it may seem , the above is being reinforced in real time with bureaucratic response to the current weather disaster. Mr snides pscho babble is just that. Hire a pschologist con
  13. I agree with measures on international shipping, and should be more rigorous, but that domestic boat movement is the prime propagation system once the pests are here is not logical. Don’t mind if they penalise pest farms on moorings, along with marinas and any man made structures . Rather than pass on cost, you should be given the option of diy eradication under prescribed method say in your birth.
  14. This is the new Front launch. Wasn’t going fast enough for distance to ramp.
  15. Pardon! Par manque de diplomatie. Langue lâche dans la joue. Dans un bar de marins, n'est-ce pas ?
  16. Yip, passed us on way back from Rakino last Sat. morning. We were on port almost out of the channel by buoy 10 and a pilot boat sat on our port bow. Thought it was odd as he was blocking our exit. Frigate was still a km away. Long blast by the frigate for someone. Pilot finally buttoned off and let us pass out of channel. I guess I should have switched radio on and stated intentions. Like i am trying to get out of channel, wtf are you doing? Faux pās? Hand signal worked tho. Long live memory of RbW.
  17. Echo that. Unless you vastly scale down the level you expect to raise your boat to, Also time that you say is free doesn’t turn out to be. Most cheap boats are just a long term second job. Mucking around in boats applies to those already seaworthy. That said, if you have Johnny Wrays boundless enthusiasm, have at it. Takes all kinds. Also only hire a surveyor that’s pedantic in all facets and comes well recommended by bb fraternity. May as well know what you’re up for.

    Rocna is # 1 ??

    Excel for six years. +10
  19. I have a similar setup except I have isolated the play not to keyway/shaft but yoke arms to tiller body as well as elongation of holes in yoke arms and body. So I had holes oversized, with new thru bolt to match. On retightening play was reduced considerably. Enough to ignore slight play. Two years later it is back to square one.
  20. Not unfamiilar. Barotrauma is only one facit of bad outcomes from release. But you have to start some where to wean the evolutionary challenged from their "thrill of chase".
  21. Being at the head of food chain we think because we can we will. Human entitlement. Rec take is vastly underestimated and should be cut. Trophy fishing should be banned or tag only. Licence all fishers and mandatory course for tag/release. Transgressions, take more boats. Commercial scale, lock them up. Time to respect our planet.

    LiFePO4

Also doesn't seem to align with ABYC E13, which is somewhat open ended, but at least ratified which we seem to try an avoid. Does AUS/NZS 3004 2004 even acknowledge the range of Lithium ion batteries and where LiFePo4 sits in terms of risk? Isn't there a 2014 version at least. It will be only one decade behind. https://panbo.com/abyc-ratifies-e-13-their-first-lithium-battery-standard/ I can't see Burnsco stocking LiFePo4 (with bmss) and tagging that contradictory non-sense to it on purpose, 'cept they have it appears. Agreed CD, I checked 4mnths ago.

    LiFePO4

Not suitable for boats connected to shore power and needing an Electrical Warrant of Fitness as the AUS/NZS 3004.2:2004 standard need the battery to be able to disconnect from all charging sources. Most decent BMS's will do a HV, LV, Temp, current, SOC disconnect of charge/ load bus to parameters set, so don't understand above statement. Plus other things like balancing. Coupled with a Victron BMV you can set audible alarms lower than bms and or use the relay function to open a contactor. Very confusing. Not all of us can afford/need/justify fully automated systems with separ
  24. Perhaps the thinking is, the islands are salvageable. The city beaches , not-so-much. But, not much of a swim/drift to habitate from city beaches to islands so flawed? Odd, but a start. I have found that my antifoul (Ultra 2) performs a lot better if I do 6mthly wipes than waterblasting.
