I think that if a boat has decent mooring cleats and serviced through hulls nobody has any right to complain. I also hate the idea of an insurance company telling me what I can and can't do. e.g. leaving the pacific after October. That's my decision.

Is this where we are headed? House Bill 4844 would be a brief addition to South Carolina law, requiring that owners who want to anchor in the state for more than two weeks pay for insurance to cover salvage costs if their boats sink:

Don't have a chat plotter as this works just fine. Also Don't bother with a speedo anymore, speed is on the phone too.

I went to Fiji and back using an android phone and mariner mx primarily and navionics occasionally. Had a tablet as well but phone was more convenient.

Ok, might need a professional opinion to know for sure, but the rust you see could be from 50 yrs of condensation. They weep a lot, if anyone knows a solution to that one I'd love to hear it. Sounds like a nasty job , good luck.

For me the main purpose of going electric is to not have an ice engine. I'm happy to go a bit slower and 60 NM is plenty of range. Recharging off grid is an issue, but the technology continues to improve.

Years ago a cav32 was run into a rock at just over 7kn. The front of the keel was mulched but the bolts the hull and the join were unaffected. A bit of work with a plane and some bog and away she went. Still sailing around today. The factory painted the tops inside the hull with epoxy, it kept the nuts from turning. That thin epoxy skin hadn't cracked.
