There are these sort of gizzmos which may work in a decent sea with a injured or unconscious crew member I have never tried one but as a exercise how many of us could clamber aboard with foulies and boots on unassisted.

Surely it is a pretty achievable task to remove the nasties. Maybe they could employ Happy Teeth to assist. My concerns are lack of vehicle parking,poor water quality and also the ever rising costs of berthage rates. Seems as if the BEU model is a dead duck and Westhaven will just look to rental return. Not a major but annually ratcheting the berthage rentals on the premise that there is increased expenditure does not wash.

I remember the 1977- 1978 Whitbred fleet parked up at Marsden wharf and the Auckland start. Watching Brunel shot from a drone fanging it in the Southern ocean reminds me that we have come a long way since those days. 40 years in fact.

Jesus, picky lot aren't you. They do a single fin as well. I would be interested too in how the bilgey gets along but given the coast generally does not suffer from depth issues a centre board would not be high on my list. Local market has lots of Youngs Townsons Wrights Davidsons etc that are all getting a bit long in the tooth and you can in my book pass up the Duffers Hansoff Varias and Bendy Boys at this or any other size.

The RM 890 ticks a lot of boxes. Fits on a 10m marina,has a tiller and the mainsheet traveller is properly located. Performance looks good and would make a capable little cruiser with ample storage and livable space. Getting hard to have that experience on the water these days. I scuttle off in my princess alone every now and then for what I term mental health days and just lie in my cockpit or berth and read about great sea battles and adventures. Part of the aging process I suppose along with becoming a avid bird watcher.

In that sort of water temperature you will not last long regardless of what you are wearing and how much identifying locator technology you have. Simply put the yacht has sailed a significant distance away from you in a raging sea. Could actually be miles before the crew accomplished a reverse course and a horrendous beat to wind and sea to return. I know somebody that parted company with their yacht in similar conditions in a similar part of the ocean. Wife and daughter wacked the boat into reverse with the motor and reversed down large seas to successfully pluck hubby from the sea. Luck
