  1. Was just commenting how green Browns looked as we sailed past on Sunday... nekminit No doubt how she got there will be an interesting tale...
  2. Short distances, the electric option works, however coming back up the harbour from Issy bay on Saturday evening at a constant 6.2 knots into 20knot SW I would have been flat by Bean Rock unless a huge Battery bank . Whereas in reality the Yanmar kept purring along at 1.6 lph.
  3. Ha never thought for a minute whilst drinking red wine and creating our nutshell dinghies that one day using them as designed would be taken as civil disobedience....
  4. Once again Keith Manch quoting very dubious statistics to justify a kerb to our freedom, and looking no doubt for a new revenue stream now that he has driven most of the smaller charter operators out of business, all to pay for more pin striped suits in wellington! KM's suggestion the best yet - painter round my ankle one oar dropped and stand up paddle board with unusual amount of freeboard, though I guess most of you would prefer to see the Bikini paddleboarders of Takapuna to the rum tum figures of myself or one or two others paddling up Bon Accord for more supplies.
  5. No swimming alongside my dinghy I am legal and no one in dinghy -so no need of lifejackets, must be a new uniform man up Kawau way it seems, lucky he didnt see me sailing the baby lugger out of Bon Accord last weekend.

    Nova 28

Sea Legs of the Milford Cruising Club, just finished the last two coastals, north shore boatbuilder Neil Beken has the glass moulds as far as Im aware. A good safe family cruising yacht.

    Nova 28

Standard glass one finished the last two coastals with a very happy Bulgarian owner and crew.
  8. Agree, we thought she might be an early J Young, her mooring is sure a long way out.
  9. Remember will be tricky getting in to westhaven on sunday ...
  10. Bit confused how a Dehler 41 and a glass Nova make up the classic division?
  11. There is a chap with a foam and glass Wharram (yes really) in your harbour that can probably sort you a pilot and plotter very reasonably...
  12. If only Happy Teeth hadnt eaten all the Parore we may have had a chance against the fan worm in Westhaven!
  13. When the Northland council dives on the hulls of cruise liners anchored off Russell then I will take them seriously, until then them and their square barnacles are just a joke, I can sail all around the bay and Whangaroa without ever going near a marina, and yes my hull is clean as I dont want any drag.
  14. Re the OC tender, a nice idea but never seen one rowed which is how my dinghies move, when not being sailed.
  15. Oh I dont know, the squadron handicappers seem to have quite a convivial time! There is a pic floating around somewhere...
  16. With the current tight policy from Northland towards Auckland boats coming North, what is Aucklands policy towards boats from the BOI coming south with the new dreaded square barnacle -never seen before in Auckland?
  17. Willow you are absolutely right, and with the various 52's there is potential for some tight racing and a close finish up there.
  18. frank has more than one hull, so not in this discussion
  19. Yes that was my feeling, the TP's are pretty quick all round the compass, so could be an interesting year with no Maxi boats...
  20. Yes that weight sounds great, I have three hondas and my 8hp long shaft is past 50kg pushing a 25' keeler to almost seven knots but very economic and charges battery, manual start though. Also have a 20hp suzuki which is very impressive, self powered electronic fuel injection manual start though as well.
  21. Ok who will be the first yacht to Russell?, one hull no trainer floats.
  22. Owners -HMB or OBC pay a lot less than those leasing, so it largely depends on which Marina you refer to.
  23. Yes the Cavallis we go through too however I am fully concentrating at the time particularly with a sea running and I have experienced a fair bit of tide set there too, bit like the Rimiriki -Wide Berth area, have taken big boats through the inside with not much speed hi sun and spotters.
